Paul Heyman is an American professional wrestling manager, former promoter, photographer, and executive. Signed to WWE, he is widely considered to be one of the greatest figures in pro wrestling and perhaps the most renowned non-wrestler alongside the McMahon family. In 1986, Heyman made his debut in the world of professional wrestling. From 1993 until its dissolution in 2001, he served as the Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) promotion's CEO and was credited as its primary creative force. Since then, he has mostly served as a manager in WWE, helping create some of the greatest wrestlers of all time.
Heyman has most notably been the advocate for Brock Lesnar and also as the Special Counsel and wise man for Roman Reigns. Besides these two, he has also managed World Champions like Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam, CM Punk, and The Big Show. Widely regarded as one of the best managers in pro wrestling, Heyman was also inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2024, as the the Class Headliner.
Who are Paul Heyman’s parents?
Late Richard S. Heyman and Sulamita Heyman are the parents of Paul Heyman. Richard S. Heyman (1926–2013) was a World War II veteran and a world-renowned lawyer. His mother, Sulamita Heyman (1928–2009), was a survivor of the Holocaust and endured suffering at Auschwitz, Bergen-Belsen, and the Łódź Ghetto.
Paul Heyman is a great admirer of his parents. In an interview with Forbes, Heyman told interviewer Daniel Scott:
“Well, I suppose it starts with my parents; my mother was a Holocaust survivor—the toughest woman, actually, the toughest person I’ve ever known. My father was a trial attorney, a litigator. I was blessed to learn from their two very different styles of approaching all of life’s trials and tribulations. On one hand, my mother took on the world, no one and nothing could intimidate her. What could she face that compared to what she witnessed, experienced, and survived as a child?”
He continued:
“On the other hand, I grew up watching my father argue in court, and boy could he argue. My father was relentless, and had this sort of reserved rebellion about him. I admired many people for their accomplishments, but I had only one hero, and that was my father. It’s where I get my “screw you” attitude from.” “I’m not afraid of a challenge, to disrupt the system, to stand up in a room and saying, 'There’s a better way.' That’s what ECW was all about.” We took on the two-billion-dollar global giants—WWE and WCW, Vince McMahon and Ted Turner—the ultimate David versus not one but two Goliaths, and we made waves. We had a real impact, changed the way the industry presented its product on a worldwide basis, gave rise to the whole “Attitude Era,” but that all started with my mother and father—the survivor and the passionate Bronx advocate.”

Paul Heyman’s Children
Paul Heyman is the father of two children - a daughter named Azalea and a son named Jacob. In an old interview (2014), with Scott Fishman of Miami Herald, Heyman had talked about his admiration of both his children.
“I don’t’ know if that’s a softer side of Paul Heyman or just a strategy I’m implementing as a parent to raise my children a certain way,” he said. “My daughter is 12, and my son is 10. My daughter is a social media expert and launched an Instagram account marketed towards kids about two years ago. She has over 100,000 Instagram followers already. She has built that all on her own with no help from me, nor has she asked for any help from me. She has people messaging her everyday with sponsorship offers. ‘Hey, I’m launching t-shirt line. Can you take a selfie wearing my t-shirt? I’ll send you 10 t-shirts for free.’ It’s headbands or wristbands or a new sneaker from a sneaker company."
Heyman continued:
“It’s amazing how ambitious she is in that world and how balanced she is with the right way to market it and take her time in making it grow. She has done a remarkable job doing it. She is a true promoter at heart."
Speaking about his son, Heyman said:
"My son is the more soft-spoken of the two for now. He is very good at production. As shown for a moment on the DVD, he worked on the set when my agency Looking for Larry did a shoot in Los Angeles two years ago with Stone Cold Steve Austin and CM Punk and Jim Ross. He has worked on other sets with me since then, not limited to people in WWE or video games. He has worked on other commercial sets with my agency. He is very good at it. He is not only a good assistant director, but he is very sharp when it comes to edit points and a different perspective of how a video can play out."
“Whether that means they are starting their long journey in this industry or whatever industry they choose, I let them choose their own path. That’s the path they have both chosen. It’s funny because I do production and social media, so I can’t say I haven’t been influential on them. But they are certainly their own characters in it of themselves.”
