Jeffrey Leonard Jarrett, popularly known as Jeff Jarrett is an American professional wrestler and wrestling promoter. Jeff Jarrett is a third generation wrestler, following his father Jerry Jarrett, maternal grandfather Eddie Martin, paternal grandmother Christine. Jeff Jarrett was a Basketball player while pursuing his schooling in Goodpasture Christian School. He also had worked as a referee in Continental Wrestling Association, which was owned by his father Jerry Jarrett. Eventually, he got trained as a wrestler by his father and Tojo Yamamoto.
Jarrett made his pro-wrestling debut in 1986 against Tony Falk but ended up in a draw. In 1989, his father purchased the Texas based wrestling promotion, World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW) and merged it with Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) to form a new promotion named United States Wrestling Association (USWA). Jarrett won the USWA Southern Heavyweight Championship 10 times, and World Tag Team Championship 15 times there. Jarrett also worked for various independent wrestling promotions for the next seven years in the United States , Japan and Puerto Rico.
Jarrett then debuted in 1993 at WWF (now WWE) in a country music star gimmick, where he became popular. He also worked for WWE's competitor promotion World Championship Wrestling (WCW) for the next nine years. After WCW was purchased by WWE, he joined the World Wrestling Association (WWA). In 2002, Jarrett and his father started NWA- Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (NWA-TNA) which is now known as Impact Wrestling. He left the promotion in 2014 and started Global Force Wrestling (GFW) which was unsuccessfully merged with TNA. He left the promotion and started wrestling for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.
In his 37 year long wrestling career, Jarrett has won 80 championships in multiple wrestling promotions. Which includes some of the most notable championships such as NWA World Heavyweight Championship (6 times), WCW World Heavyweight Championship (4 times), AAA Mega Championship (twice), WWF Intercontinental Championship (6 times) and so on. Jeff Jarrett was inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame in 2015 and WWE Hall of Fame in 2018. He is currently signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he is the Director of Business Development.
