Steve Borden, better known by his ring name Sting, is a legendary American professional wrestler whose career spans over four decades. Born in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1959, Borden began his athletic journey in bodybuilding before entering the world of wrestling in the mid-1980s.

His early career saw him compete under the name "Flash" in various independent promotions, often teaming with fellow future legend The Ultimate Warrior. In the Universal Wrestling Federation (UWF) Borden adopted the iconic persona of Sting. The dark and mysterious character with face paint and a signature silver bat quickly gained popularity. It is safe to say that The Ultimate Warrior and Sting are two of the biggest superstars with face paint.

In 1987, Sting signed with Jim Crockett Promotions, which later became World Championship Wrestling (WCW). This marked the beginning of a storied career that would see him become the face of the company for over a decade. Within WCW, Sting captured his first major title, the NWA World Television Championship, in 1988. He then embarked on a series of intense feuds, most notably with "Hollywood" Hulk Hogan and nWo (New World Order).

Throughout the 1990s, Sting adopted various personas, including the charismatic "Surfer Sting" and the brooding, introspective "Crow" character. Following the closure of WCW in 2001, Sting continued his journey by competing in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) and later making a highly anticipated debut in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in 2014.

In a surprising turn of events, at the age of 60, Sting returned to the ring in 2020, signing with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Sting competed mostly in tag team matches building the future of professional wrestling. He teamed up with and trained Darby Allin, who is considered to be one of the four pillars of AEW alongside Sammy Guevara, MJF, and Jack Perry. Sting is set to retire from pro-wrestling at AEW Revolution just two weeks shy of his 65th birthday.

Who are the sons of Sting (Steve Borden)?

Sting has two sons - Garrett Lee Borden and Steven Borden Jr. Besides, he is also the father to a daughter named Gracie Borden. His three children were born during his marriage with Sue Borden, with whom he had a divorce in 2010. Sting is currently married to Sabine since 2015.

Garrett Lee Borden is the older son of Sting. Borden opted to play football instead of having a career in professional wrestling. However, he once was involved in a storyline at Total Nonstop Action in 2007. Sting was feuding with Kurt Angle at the time and the Olympian attacked the then-high schooler after his football practice.

Garrett Borden has been a huge fan of his father as a wrestler and often supports him on his social media. In March 2024, just days before Sting’s final wrestling match, Borden posted a heartfelt tribute to his father.

Steven Borden Jr. is the younger son of Sting. Just like his older brother, Borden too pursued a career in Football instead of professional wrestling. However, he too, has been very supportive and appreciative of his father. Before Sting’s retirement match at AEW Revolution, he took it to Instagram to express how proud he was of his father.

In an older interview with the Kansas City Star, Borden was asked about growing up around his father’s fame, to which he had a great answer. "It's never bothered me," Steven Jr. told the newspaper. "It's actually been one of those things that has pushed me my entire life. You see what your dad has done, you want to beat him out."

"He's always kind of pushed me to do what I want to do, make a name for myself outside of what he's done," Steven Jr. said. "So that's been the goal my entire life, not really to follow in his footsteps necessarily, but to make my own name ... he never really was one of those dads who kind of wanted to push their son into their own deal."
