Hailing from Barquisimeto, Venezuela, Carlos Enrique Mendoza is a new manager in Major League Baseball (MLB). Moreover, he is a veteran baseball player himself, having signed a free agent contract with the San Francisco Giants back in the day. He then spent twelve seasons in the minor leagues representing teams like the Salem-Kaizer Volcanoes, San Jose Giants, Shreveport Captains, AZL Giants, Norwich Navigators, Fresno Grizzlies, Pensacola Pelicans, Tampa Yankees, Trenton Thunder and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees till his retirement.

After Carlos Mendoza retired as a player, he embarked on his coaching and managing career. He started out with minor leagues by coaching the Charleston RiverDogs in 2010 and later returned to manage the team in 2012. In between that, he served as the manager of the GCL Yankees ( in 2011).

Nonetheless, he joined the New York Yankees as a roving defensive instructor after 2012 and was later named him as their quality control manager in 2018. The team further declared him as the bench coach in 2020, a role that he served until 2023. He was eventually chosen by the New York Mets as their new manager from the 2024 season in November 2023, after they fired former manager Buck Showalter for poor performance in the 2023 season.
