Aaron Wiggins played three seasons at the University of Maryland. In his freshman season (2018/19), Wiggins appeared in 34 games, starting 3 of them, while averaging 8.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. He shot 41.3% from deep in his freshman season, which ranks 11th in Maryland history. He posted 322 points, grabbed 155 rebounds, and dished out 44 assists for the Terrapins. Wiggins was ranked second on the team for most 3-pointers made (53). He was also awarded the Big 10 Conference Sixth Man of the Year award for the 2019-20 season.

In his junior season (2020/21), Wiggins had the second most points on the team and had multiple 20-point games. He averaged 14.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game as a junior, as per Sports Reference. He also scored his college career best of 27 points against Alabama in his junior season.

Aaron Wiggins started his schooling at Grimsley Senior High School in Greensboro but joined the Wesleyan Christian Academy, where he averaged 15.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. He won the Won AAU Super Showcase title with Charlotte and was named to the All-Under Armour Association team. By the end of his school career he was rated a consensus four-star recruit and was ranked no. 9 small forward in the country via ESPN.
