Joshua Michael Richardson is a professional American basketball player born on September 15, 1993 in Edmond, Oklahoma. He plays shooting guard and small forward in the National Basketball Association. Josh has played for several NBA franchises till now. Currently, he is under an agreement with the Miami Heat. Earlier, Richardson played high school (Santa Fe High School) and college (University of Tennessee) basketball. The Miami Heat selected him in the 2015 NBA draft with the 40th overall pick.

Born on September 15, 1993 in Edmond, Josh Richardson is the second child of his parents. He has an older (5 years) sister named Alex Richardson. He grew up in his hometown and started showing love for sports at the age of 6. His father, Michael Richardson, was a firefighter while his mother (Alice Richardson) was a retired lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force Reserves.
Josh belongs to a Christian family that has a strong faith in the religion. Initially, Josh Richardson showed interest in football. But his sister used to play basketball which attracted Josh to this game. He attended Santa Fe High School and then the University of Tennessee to play high school and college basketball.

The 2015 NBA draft was the occasion for Josh Richardson to enter the NBA. He was picked by the Miami Heat with the 40th pick. But Josh signed the agreement with his team after playing in 10 summer league games with 11.8 points per game. He played his debut game for the Heat after missing the first four games of the season. He appeared in the debut game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on November 5. He started as a shooting guard in place of Dwayne Wade in his third NBA game on November 12.
Josh was named Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month on April 5. With this, he became only the 3rd player in the Heat’s history to win the monthly rookie award. He rejoined the Heat in July 2016 for the 2016 NBA Summer League. Unfortunately, Josh sustained an injury in his right knee on September 9, 2016. It kept him away from the game for six to eight weeks.
He signed a four-year agreement worth US$42 million for a contract extension. In a win over the Hornets on December 1, 2017, Josh posted his career-high 27 points. Furthermore, in a victory over the Clippers on December 16, Josh posted a new career-high 28 points. Again, on October 29, Richardson recorded his career-high 31 points against the Sacramento Kings.
After assisting the Miami Heat, Josh Richardson shifted to the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers traded him on July 6, 2019 as a part of a package for Jimmy Butler. Josh posted 14 points against the Boston Celtics on December 12. On November 18, 2020, Josh was traded to the Dallas Mavericks. He witnessed this season with disappointments as his point production dropped significantly in the playoffs. Josh scored only 4.9 points, 1.6 rebounds and 0.7 assists in seven games against the Clippers.
On July 31, 2021, the Boston Celtics selected Richardson in exchange for Moses Brown. He registered 27 points against the New York Knicks. Later, the San Antonio Spurs drafted Josh Richardson along with Romeo Langford on February 10, 2022 in exchange for Derrick White. However, Josh Richardson left the Spurs and went on to join the New Orleans Pelicans in 2023. The Pelicans picked him up on February 9, 2023 in exchange for Devonte Graham. But his tenure with the Pelicans was short lived as he signed a two-year deal with the Miami Heat in July 2023.
