The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, or L.A. Coliseum, is a historic stadium in Los Angeles, California. Built in 1923 as a tribute to World War I veterans, it holds the distinction of hosting the Summer Olympics thrice. Home to the USC Trojans football team, it also hosts NASCAR's Busch Light Clash and has a quarter-mile racetrack on its infield every February. Managed by USC, it's jointly owned by the State of California, Los Angeles County, and the city. Renovated in 2019, it now features luxury boxes and club suites, though seating capacity has decreased to 77,500.
USC Trojans Football Team Rivals
Notre Dame
USC and Notre Dame have a historic rivalry, playing annually for the Jeweled Shillelagh. It's a big deal in college football, featuring top teams, Heisman winners, and future NFL stars. They've played since 1926, except for breaks during World War II and the COVID-19 pandemic.
UCLA
USC and UCLA, both from Los Angeles, share a fierce rivalry. They compete for the Victory Bell and city bragging rights. The annual game is a big deal for students and families, and it is divided between the schools, with traditions like wearing home uniforms.
Stanford
USC's rivalry with Stanford dates back to 1905. While it faded for a while, it revived when Stanford got strong under Jim Harbaugh. USC leads the series, but Stanford's recent successes have kept the rivalry alive.
Cal
USC also has a rivalry with California, though smaller than Stanford or UCLA. They've played over 100 times, with USC leading the series. However, with USC moving to the Big Ten and Cal to the ACC, the rivalry is on hold for now.
