The Punjab Kings endured another disappointing IPL season last summer, as they finished in the ninth spot with five victories in 14 outings. As is the norm, the Preity Zinta-co-owned franchise made wholesale changes to its setup, bringing in a new captain, a new coach, and a whole host of new players. Last year’s IPL-winning captain Shreyas Iyer will lead the charge this summer, with former Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting stepping up as the new coach.
The Punjab-based franchise retained Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh, ahead of the mega IPL 2025 auction. They also regained left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh during the auction via RTM. The franchise acquired stars such as Yuzvendra Chahal, Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Marco Jansen, Josh Ingis, Lockie Ferguson, and Azmatullah Omarzai, among others.
