About UFC 295: Jiri Prochazka vs. Alex Pereira
UFC 295: Jiri Prochazka vs. Alex Pereira was an MMA event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship that took place on November 11 at the Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York, United States. The main card for UFC 295 is set to commence at 10 p.m. ET.
The main event of UFC 295 was a light heavyweight title bout between the former light heavyweight champion Jiri ‘Denisa’ Prochazka and former middleweight champion Alex ‘Poatan’ Pereira, where Pereira was crowned the new champion via TKO in the 2nd round. A few months after Jamahall Hill won the title against Glover Teixeira, he relinquished the belt as he ruptured his Achilles tendon. Originally, this bout was scheduled as the co-main event, but it has been promoted to the main event following the cancellation of the original main event between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic.
The highly anticipated UFC Heavyweight Championship fight featuring Jon Jones, the reigning champion who is also a former two-time UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and the former two-time champion Stipe Miocic, was set to be the main event of the night. Unfortunately, the fight had to be scrapped on October 25 due to Jon Jones suffering a pectoral muscle injury that required surgery. A new co-main event was announced in the wake of this situation for the interim heavyweight championship between No.2 and No.4 ranked contenders Sergei Pavlovich and Tom Aspinall, respectively. Aspinall was declared the winner and the new interim heavyweight champion via a KO in the very first round of this matchup.
