The FedEx Cup champion in 2023, Viktor Hovland, was born in Norway on September 18, 1997. Following his victory in the 2018 U.S. Amateur, he shot to the top of the World Amateur Golf Ranking in 2019. The same year, he turned professional and earned his PGA Tour card for the next season through the Korn Ferry Tour Finals. He finished tied for runner-up at the 2023 PGA Championship, his best major finish, and most recently, in 2024, he finished in third place at the same event.

Hovland created history by being the first Norwegian to win the Puerto Rico Open of the PGA Tour in 2020 and the BMW International Open of the European Tour in 2021. Since then, he has captured six more PGA Tour tournaments. His most recent victory came at the Valspar Championship in 2025, defeating Justin Thomas by one stroke.

Hovland has never won a WGC event; however, he came pretty close at the 2021 WGC-Workday Championship, where he finished tied for second place with Billy Horschel and Brooks Koepka, being defeated by Collin Morikawa by three strokes.
