Alright! The Afghan players pose for the shutterbugs with the trophy. It's a historic moment for them as they win their first-ever T20I series against a top 6 team. Pakistan, on the other hand, put up a thoroughly dominating performance to avoid the clean sweep but they just didn't deliver their goods with the bat in the first two matches. On that note, it's time to end the coverage here and hope you enjoyed it. Until next time, this is Pragadeesh and Pratyush saying goodbye and goodnight. See yaa
Rashid Khan (Afghanistan Captain) - Special occasion to be part of the team and lead this team. There is a great experience throughout and winning the series makes us happy but there have to improve on certain areas. I feel we struggled when the pressure is on in the past and so happy to chase scores on a couple of occasions because it was difficult to bat on this surface. I feel this is a much better wicket than the last two games but we didn't get the start that we wanted. Great preparation for us and any series after this is a great challenge and we use it as a preparation for the next world cup, which is the main goal for the team. I am going to make it hard for the batters and that's what I have been working on. I know my areas and keep hitting those to create an opening
Mohammad Nabi is the Player of the Series. Here are his thoughts: Thanks to Allah we won that series. The first two games were pressure games. It was tough conditions in there and I wanted to thank god for coming through. It's not always about big contributions. If there's an opportunity with the ball or the bat, I will be happy to do that. Every little thing matters. (Runout today) We didn't coordinate too well, and took off a bit slowly for the second run.
Shadab Khan is the Player of the Match. Here is what the Pakistan captain has to say: We wanted to finish on a high note and we've done that. We know that they have the talent and can play like that. We knew we had to adapt to the conditions and they did that well. If you play for pride, it's not difficult. I gave them one message, that we have to play for Pakistan's pride. That's what they did. The main motive of this series was to give the youngsters a chance. Hopefully, they get confidence from it as well.
Pakistan won by 66 runs Saim Ayub 49(40) | Azmatullah Omarzai 11(19) Shadab Khan 3-13(4) | Mujeeb Ur Rehman 2-28(4)
Pakistan would be relieved that they avoided the clean sweep eventually. This is the 36th time they manage to bowl out the team in T20Is - The most by any team in this format. There is no doubt that they were so clinical in all facets of the game today and won by a massive margin of 66 runs.
It's always going to be a tough ask to chase a score more than 180 against the fiery Pakistan pace attack and Afghanistan felt the heat throughout the innings. Ihsanullah removed the dangerous Gurbaz in the powerplay and he didn't stop with that either. He came back and wreaked havoc to the Afghan middle order - Firstly, his bumper hits Najib's chin and the southpaw was seen bleeding before he walked off the field, soon after, Janat and Fareed fell prey to his pace and lost their wickets cheaply
Shadab Khan was tough to negotiate on this wicket as he picked up three wickets. After Nabi got run out, Afghanistan crumbled under pressure and lost 4 wickets for just three runs. Rashid took Ihsanullah on and smashed a monstrous six but his stay was ended by Imad Wasim. Omarzai, who came as a concussion sub entertained the crowd but his cameo only helped the hosts to reduce the deficit of the defeat
18.4 Zaman Khan to Azmatullah Omarzai, OUT! THAT WILL BE THAT! Going searching for the yorker again and missing it ever so slightly. Omarzai couldn't get underneath it though and smacked this straight to Tahir at long-on. Pakistan win by 66 runs and avoid a clean sweep!
Azmatullah Omarzai c Tayyab Tahir b Zaman Khan 21 (20b, 2x4, 1x6)
18.4 Zaman Khan to Azmatullah Omarzai, wide. Slower oner gone wrong as he sprays it well wide. Will have to bowl that one again
18.3 Zaman Khan to Azmatullah Omarzai, into the block hole once more. Omarzai shovels it out to long-on. He's getting some batting practice here
18.2 Zaman Khan to Azmatullah Omarzai, finds the yorker outside the off-stump. Omarzai swings and misses, no run
18.1 Zaman Khan to Azmatullah Omarzai, low full toss on the middle stump. Omarzai smashes this towards deep square leg but doesn't take the single
