The marquee Mumbai-Bengal clash at the Eden Gardens saw the visitors wrest control in their favor at the end of Day 1, even as bad light intervened in the final session. Prithvi Shaw scored a brisk 35 on comeback but Mumbai were soon reduced to 87/4, post which stand-in skipper Shivam Dube (72) and Suryansh Shedge (71) counter-attacked with brisk half-centuries. Tanush Kotian (55*) and Atharva Ankolekar (41*) then took command with their partnership now unbeaten on 99. Can Bengal's bowlers clean up the remaining four wickets quickly?
