A fantastic performance across all departments by Byron. From start to finish, they were professional in the way they went about their work and put in a defensive masterclass with the ball after Virk Ali's blistering 67 powered them to a massive total of 133 in the first half.

The Stallions lost an early wicket but skipper Saif Ur Rehman came out meaning business, tonking the ball all around the park. He looked in menacing touch and it was his wicket that went on to stall their flow, with Ahmed Mumtaz landing the killer punch. Thereafter, the asking rate continued to rise steeply with the bowlers turning in a very tidy display as they barely bowled any freebies.

Aslam Mohammad, who played a useful hand with the bat, also did his bit with the ball as he chipped in with two extremely handy overs. Spyridon Vasilakis looked to arrow it into the block hole with a clear plan and Qasim Muhammad then reaped the rewards with three wickets in the penultimate over. Apart from Saif, only Zeeshan Ali chipped in with an innings of note with Rifaq Khan going nowhere during his stay. It all went awry for the Stallions and they've had to start the tournament on the wrong note.

They will look to put this behind them and bounce back later in the day today. Having said that, this is a confidence-sapping defeat that they simply must try to forget at the earliest. For Byron, this is as good a beginning as they could have asked for and they'll look to get into a bit of a roll.

A fitting end to a clinical defense and they've done it in style have Byron! What a start to their campaign and this will get them rolling along with a lot of confidence.
