It was always going to be a humungous ask for Madrid United to get over the finishing line. However if they had to chase this down, they would have needed a huge powerplay. The innings started off well with a maximum off the very first delivery but two wickets in that over itself made the equation very difficult for Madrid.

Aamir Shaukat struck some impressive shots to get the hopes back for Madrid but his dismissal at a crucial juncture of the game again tilted the scales in favour of Catalunya CC. Mirza Baig was the only batter from Madrid United who looked at ease and struck some exceptional shots and was supported well by Dipendra Basnet.

The boundaries were coming thick and fast but the required rate still kept climbing at an alarming rate and despite scoring 123 in their allotted 10 overs, they ended up losing the match by 32 runs. Mirza Baig went onto complete a well-deserved half-century in the final delivery of the match. Asim Javeed was the pick of the bowlers for Catalunya CC, finishing with figures of 2/15.

It was all about the opening duo of Awais Ahmed and Armghan Khan in the first innings of the game as the duo demolished the Madrid United bowlers. It was a great call by Catalunya CC to win the toss and bat. Awais Ahmed and Armghan Khan made their intentions clear right from the word go. Ahmed looked in sublime touch as he smashed three sixes to start the innings, eventually collecting 23 runs from the opening over.

That was just the start of what was about to transpire in the remaining 9 overs. Both the batters kept going for the big shots and kept clearing the fence on a consistent basis. An unbeaten opening stand of 155 runs has certainly given Catalunya CC a big cushion to defend this score. Armghan Khan took a bit of time early on but once he started finding the boundaries, it was special stuff from both the batters. Both reached their respective half-centuries in quick time.

While Awais Ahmed remained unbeaten on 86 off just 31 deliveries which included 4 fours and 10 sixes, Arrmghan Khan remained unbeaten on 60 off 30 deliveries which was studded with 6 fours and 4 sixes. In the end, it was a mountain too steep to climb for Madrif United.
