This is Probuddha Bhattacharjee signing off from this game on behalf of my co-commentator Sourabh. There is a lot of cricketing action still to come today. Stay tuned on Sportskeeda to enjoy all the exciting action.
Tamim Iqbal (Fortune Barisal Captain): I think we read the conditions perfectly. I think this wicket was better than the other one. However, there will always be something here for the bowlers in the afternoon. The wicket was a bit tacky at the beginning of the innings and we made great use of it. I set high standards for my fielding and that miss was a silly one. After that he hit a couple of sixes it got into my heart. Whomever we face, we will try and concentrate on the positives and the strengths of our unit.
Kyle Mayers (Player of the Match): Well I would love to stay in the habit of picking up the man of the matches till the competition ends. At the beginning of the game, the pitch was a bit tacky, but it was not for too long. The pitch was really good in this game compared to the last one. Batting got easier as the game progressed.
Time for the presentation...
Shuvagata Hom (Chattogram Challengers Captain) - We didn't bat well, bowling was not upto the mark. Wicket was little bit bouncy, but good enough to score 170-180, we should have scored that.
Match end!!!
Fortune Bairsal have scored 136/3 in 14.5 overs and have won the match by seven wickets with 31 balls remaining in the game. They have made their way to the Qualifier 2 of the tournament and will now wait for the losers of the Qualifier 1.
It was a moderate target set by the Challengers for Barisal. But the chase did not start ideally for them. They tried a new combination with Soumya Sarkar at the top of the order but that did not work out as he was dismissed off the second delivery in the innings.
After this, Kyle Mayers walked out into the crease and changed the complexion of the game in no time. He scored 50 runs off 26 balls and took the game away from the Challengers. Tamim Iqbal accompanied him at the other end and ensured that they did not get off the track.
Even though Barisal lost a couple of wickets towards the end, it had consequence on the result of the game. In the end, the Barisal went past the target in just 14.5 overs with seven wickets in hand.
