That's all from us then! We hope you enjoyed our coverage of this BPL game. This is Soumarya Dutta, signing off on behalf of my partner Rajarshi!
Shuvagata Hom, Chattogram Challengers Captain- We've seen here that the evening matches have been high scoring and we gave our batters the license to go for it. Maxie and Usman were brilliant from the start and they used the powerplay really well. Especially Usman finished extremely well.
Usman Khan, Player of the match- Thanks to the almighty! Our plan was to ensure that we stayed at the wicket and once we got in the runs started to come and we started to go for the hits. Myself and Maxie have been practicing together in the nets for a while and we've got good communication between ourselves.
Yasir Ali, Khulna Tigers captain: I think Azam and Tamim bhai batted well. We had a good score that was not easy to chase, we could have bowled better, and we needed to grab our chances as well. The tournament has begun, we have 10 more matches to come, and we will come back strongly, hopefully.
Chattogram Challengers 179/1 in 19.2 overs Usman Khan 103[58] | Nahidul Islam 1/26 Max O'Dowd 58(50)
The Chattogram Challengers have romped home with 9 wickets remaining here and it has been one heck of a performance from them! They were in absolute control of the chase, right from the word go and it was set up for them by a record opening partnership between Usman Khan and Max O'Dowd which was worth 141. Usman Khan was at his incredible best as he attacked the Khulna bowlers right from ball one and not once did he look in any kind of discomfort. He got to his fifty in quick time and from there onwards he just toyed with the field placements as he found the gaps at will. Max O'Dowd was slow to begin but he gave Usman good company while he was out there. In the end Usman got to his much deserved 100 with a six over point and remained unbeaten to see his side through.
For the Tigers bowlers, they didn't really have much to cheer about and they were taken to the cleaners by the Chattogram openers who were really ruthless upon them. Nahidul got the sole wicket in the game but it was a bit too late in the end as the game had already slipped away from their grasp. Wahab Riaz was perhaps the only bowler who looked threatening from the Kings perspective.
Spare of thought for Azam Khan as he ends up on the loosing side despite being absolutely incredible with the bat but he only has his bowlers to blame for it. The Challengers on the other hand, will be really pleased with this effort as they've opened their account in the tournament now.
Chattogram Challengers win by 9 wickets!
19.3 Paul van Meekeren to Usman Khan, no ball for height, they get a single and that is that! The Chattogram Challengers are home and dry with 4 balls to spare! It's been a night to remember for Usman Khan, and a night to forget for Paul van Meekeren! Van Meekeren tried attempting a wide yorker, got it all wrong, the ball slipped out of his hand, Usman reached for it, smattered it high up towards third man, and the batters jogged through for the winning run!
19.3 Paul van Meekeren to Usman Khan, wide, short, far too short from van Meekeren, Usman refrains from swinging at it, van Meekeren roars in disgust
19.2 Paul van Meekeren to Usman Khan, goes for the yorker, ends up bowling a low full toss, Usman bunted it into the gap at deep mid-wicket, they ambled back for a second run
19.1 Paul van Meekeren to Afif Hossain, on a good length, the ball skids through to Afif, who managed to drop it to the left of the bowler, who ran to the ball, gathered it on his follow through, turned around and had a shy at his end, hit the target but Afif was well in
Paul Van Meekeren [3.0-0-37-0] back into the attack.
Usman Khan brought up a well deserved hundred in that over! He has been in unbelievable form today and has almost seen the Challengers through here. They need just 6 runs to win now and they're on the brink of victory.
