Chepauk Super Gillies have put on a show with both bat and ball and had a clinical performance in this match, especially with their bowling effort that has just blown away this opposition on the field.
Kaushik Gandhi, the captain, along with N Jagadeesan opened the innings and were in complete control right from the first ball of the chase. They took time in the first few overs and respected the new ball bowlers as they looked to get an understanding of the bowlers and the pitch. Once that was done, Kaushik Gandhi just went after the bowlers and took the match away from the Dragons. N Jagadeesan played a supporting knock to his captain, Gandhi, before he perished for 21. Gandhi almost carried his bat through and scored 53 runs for the team in just 41 balls. Radhakrishnan and Sasidev played the rest of the innings with ease and helped the team cross the line comfortably.
Dindigul Dragons didn't have the answers to the quality openers from Super Gillies. They couldn't get the breakthrough early on in the innings to get the momentum going their way. Once they failed to create an impact inside the powerplay, it became tough for them in the middle overs to come back as they didn't have much to defend. They managed to pick couple of wickets but that came too late for them to allow them to come back into the game. It was just not their day today and have been humbled by a better team on the field. Yet they will have lot of positives to take from this tournament come back hard in the next season.
Chepauk Super Gillies are through to the finals that is to be played on Sunday against Ruby Trichy Warriors at Chepauk. So it is going to be a cracker of the contest between those two sides which finished 1 & 2 on the points table in the league stage.
That's it, that's the match for Chepauk Super Gillies. Finished off in a style as Sasidev hits a maximum over the ropes at the midwicket boundary and signs off the match in a fine fashion.
