That brings us to the end of our coverage from this TNPL clash. Till the next time, this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Rajarshi Das. Goodnight!
Baba Aparajith: We are following the process. We bowled really well today. We lost the toss today but our bowlers were exceptional. It was a short spell but I enjoyed it. I wanted to take the game deep and we knew we could go for big shots with just 30 more required. Any batter wants to finish a game. I am happy to finish the game off very well. We have to wait and see, Satish will go for scans.
Chepauk Super Gillies won by 7 wickets (with 26 deliveries to spare)
Chepauk Super Kings 121/3 in 15.4 overs
Baba Aparajith 46*(29) | Pradosh Paul 25(25) S Ajith Ram 2/15(2) | Mohamed Ali 1/18(3)
The target of 121 was never going to challenge the Chepauk Super Gillies and it turned out in that fashion as they romped home by 7 wickets with 4.2 overs to spare. After a good start from Pradosh Ranjan Paul and Narayan Jagaddeesan, it was Baba Aparajith who played brilliantly and stayed their till the end to see his side some.
A doze of a couple of sixes and a scintillating cover drive was the last three shots of the game as it turned out to be a walk in the park for the Super Gillies. Pradosh Paul began with a couple of boundaries in the very first over. Jagadeesan didn’t allow Sai Kishore to settle in, smashing him for a six and a four before his departure to the bowling of Ajith Ram.
Baba Aparajith batted sensibly to begin with and played some delectable shots. Ajith Ram again breached the defence of Pradosh Paul but by then, the result of the match was a foregone conclusion. Sanjay Yadav came out with a positive frame of mind and smashed an 18-ball 22 to get his side close to the finish line.
Baba Aparajith smashed two lusty blows in the 16th over and ended the match with a delectable cover drive. He remained unbeaten on 46 as the Super Gillies romped to a 7-wicket victory. Ajith Ram was the pick of the bowlers, bagging a couple while Mohamed Ali bagged one.
15.4 G Periyasamy to Baba Aparajith, that is that! Full length delivery outside off stump, Aparajith creamed the ball towards the man at deep cover, and sealed a 7-wicket win for the Chepauk Super Gillies!
15.3 G Periyasamy to Baba Aparajith, SIX MORE! This was even bigger! Periyasamy dished this one right in the slot, on off stump, Aparajith got right under it, clobbered the ball into the night sky, and cleared the boundary at long on by some distance!
15.2 G Periyasamy to Baba Aparajith, SIX! Full, pace-on delivery outside off stump, Aparajith lined it up well and clubbed the ball down the ground! The ball landed just in front of the sightscreen!
15.2 G Periyasamy to Harish Kumar, wide, wayward full toss down the leg side. Raheja failed to gather it cleanly, allowing an extra run in the process
15.1 G Periyasamy to Harish Kumar, slower delivery on a length outside off, Harish was ages early into his shot, missed the ball completely
It hasn't been the greatest of spells from the skipper Sai Kishore. The ball wasn't coming out from his hand the way he would have liked. The Super Gillies just 15 runs away from the victory target. This has been a pretty convincing performance from the Super Gillies.
