Tanuka Dabare (Player of the Match)- He spoke about the partnership and he planned to score around 45-40 runs.
Wanindu Hasaranga, Kandy Falcons skipper: Not much (on whether the toss was important or not), but we got 4 wickets in the first 6 overs and none after that and it resulted in out loss. We gave away too many runs in the middle overs as well.
Kusal Mendis, Galle Gladiators skipper: It was an important toss. Was the same track we used yesterday, so we knew it will be slow. It's a good pitch for slower bowlers and they did the job for us.
The first 6 overs of the first innings belonged to the Falcons, after that it was not a great performance by them. They gave away the pressure they had and that resulted in a total of 150+ for the Gladiators. Then they were off to a poor start with the bat as well.
They lost 5 wickets for just 29 runs and their top and middle order collapsed. With more than 70 runs required off 5 overs, Karunaratne and Bandara tried their level best to chase it down. They almost pulled it off as they lost by just 12 runs.
If Karunaratne would not have given up his wicket in pursuit of a risky double, they could have chased this down.
But brilliant bowling and fielding performance has awarded the Gladiators them their win. Sandakan and Thushara took 2 wickets each, while Wasim took one wicket. 2 run outs in the innings as well.
