That's all from us then! We hope you enjoyed the coverage of this LPL game between Colombo Stars and Jaffna Kings. This is Soumarya Dutta, signing off on behalf of my partner, Rajarshi Das. See you soon!
Niroshan Dickwella, - We failed to click as a batting group and that has been a major issue for us. We couldn't really figure out what was going to be good total and it cost us in the end. Luckily, we have got no injuries in the squad and we're looking forward to playing with our 100% strength.
Thisara Perera- We've tried and tested our whole squad almost and it has given us a fair idea of where we stand at the moment. We're looking forward to the play-offs. We know that it will be just another game and we will look to stick to our strengths.
Jaffna Kings 131/2 in 16 overs Rahmanullah Gurbaz 69(40) | Jeffrey Vandersay 1/33 Avishka Fernando 40 not out (38)| Dominic Drakes 1/30
What an emphatic run chase by the Jaffna Kings! They've chased down this small total in some style and have hardly broken any sweat in getting there. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Avishka Fernando put on an incredible opening stand of 105 and took the game away from the Colombo Stars. Gurbaz was in devastating form and smashed 69 of just 40 balls. Avishka Fernando looked a bit circumspect early on, but he settled down nicely and played the anchor role in the run chase. He remained unbeaten on 40 in the end as Sadeera Samarawickrama finished things off in style with a boundary.
The Colombo Stars, couldn't get any early wickets and once Gurbaz got in, they were no longer in the game. At one stage they were staring at a 10 wicket loss but they did pick up two wickets towards the end to save the blushes. Jeffrey Vandersay was the pick of the bowlers and also the only one who finished his quota of 4 overs.
The Jaffna Kings will be really happy with this performance as they're going into the playoffs on a high. They're looking good as a collective unit and have been ticking most of the boxes. The Colombo Stars though, will have to get back to the drawing board and work on their batting as it has been a major area of concern for them.
15.5 Dominic Drakes to Sadeera Samarawickrama, FOUR, that will be that! Jaffna Kings, by virtue of their strong start with the bat, have strolled through to victory with over 4 overs to spare! This was dug in short, and this time, Sadeera picked the length early and pulled hard, the ball was in the gap and crossed the ropes at deep mid-wicket!
15.4 Dominic Drakes to Sadeera Samarawickrama, on a hard length, Sadeera re-adjusts and manages to keep it on the ground
15.3 Dominic Drakes to Sadeera Samarawickrama, full outside off stump, Sadeera goes for the drive but isn't close to the pitch of the ball
15.2 Dominic Drakes to Sadeera Samarawickrama, in the airrr, and just past the man at mid-wicket! Sadeera moved away to pull this hard length delivery, the ball rushed onto him and he was late on it, the ball just about went past the diving mid-wicket fielder, and they come back for a brace as the deep mid-wicket fielder gets to it
15.1 Dominic Drakes to Avishka Fernando, waits for this length delivery on off-stump to come onto him, and then dabs it aerially towards deep third man for a single
The Jaffna Kings are almost there! Just 5 more runs needed for victory for them now and they're only one hit away.
