Commentary

Three losses on the bounce and four wins to follow it up - England responded pretty well and are through to the semi-final. West Indies players can now switch their attention to the other match and pray for a South Africa win in Christchurch. Three teams have booked their semi-finals berth and we will get to know the final team in a few hours.

Heather Knight: We are pleased, obviously would've liked a few more runs but it's a slow wicket. Dunkley has been a mature player and she hits a ball cleanly. We have to wait to see who we play. The top 6 had a little bit of time and that's a good thing ahead of the semis. One eye on the net run rate and one eye on looking after your bowlers ahead of the semi-final. We will go back and have some dinner and watch the match and we'll happily play whoever it is. Yeah, it showed a lot of character the way we turned things around.

Nigar Sultana: I guess it was a decent total to restrict, the wicket was a very good wicket but lack of partnerships cost us. Some of the individual performances have been a big positive. Yeah, I think we have to play more matches to learn more. A lot of young girls coming into the picture, so it's going to be an exciting few months for Bangladesh Cricket.

Sophia Dunkley (Player of the Match): Definitely wasn't easy to bat on here, they bowled really well, we had to spend time in the middle and build partnerships to set up a platform in the end. I think I got a few starts on the way, nice to make a contribution today and build on that. I'm disappointed that I didn't finish a couple games earlier. It was a little sluggish, but it was all about partnerships for us. Brunt came in with a lot of energy. I was re-energized. I'm having a blast, and it's sometimes difficult to recall that you're playing in the World Cup and fulfilling a childhood dream. Our primary goal for today was to complete the task. We'll give it our best, and we're excited about the game.

England Women - 234 in 50 overs (Sophia Dunkley 67 off 72 balls, Salma Khatun 2/46) defeat Bangladesh Women 134/10 in 48 overs (Lata Mondol 30 off 45 balls, Sophie Ecclestone 3/15) by 100 runs.

In a tough batting wicket, the spinners Sophie Ecclestone and Charlie Dean made life difficult for the Bangladesh batters in the middle period. The duo got three wickets each as the Bangladesh batters never looked comfortable at the crease. The slow start from the openers Shamima and Supta put the team on the backfoot, and once Sophie Ecclestone came into the attack, she started to dictate terms and put more pressure on the batters with tight line and lengths.

She bowled four maidens and picked up three wickets. Bangladesh never showed any urgency to this chase and Charlie Dean ran through the tailenders in the end. Bangladesh bowlers did well to restrict England to a decent total, but once again, because of their batting failure, they suffer a huge defeat in the end.

But overall, this tournament is a big learning for the Tigers, who are playing in their first World Cup. They can take a lot of positives from this World Cup and come up stronger in the next mega event

The England players are all smiles and why not! After losing their first three matches, the defending champions are through to the semi-finals in this World Cup. They have to wait for some time to know their semi-finals opponents.
