Shreyas Iyer (Player of the Match and captain, Punjab Kings): Ecstatic, to be honest. Getting 97 in the opening game is like icing on the cake and an unparalleled feeling, to be honest. It was important to adapt as we went on, but as I got a boundary, I felt I was in good nick. We adapted quickly and played well. 44 runs he scored, which was very crucial for the team. We had set a bench mark of 200, and with the dew coming in, we knew the scenario could change, and the way he performed was excellent. (On Vyshak) He is a funny character; his approach is stupendous, and the way he executed his lines and length from ball 1 was amazing. Arshdeep played an important role; when he bowled, he said that the ball was reversing a bit. The saliva helps the bowlers, and he said that we should start executing wide yorkers rather than keeping it for the last two overs. Before the season started, we left no stone unturned, and everyone chipped in with the contributions. Everyone participate,s and it is just the first game, and hopefully we perform the same going forward.

Arshdeep Singh, Punjab Kings: The thought was simple and clear, we'll make them hit towards the off side. Let them hit those good shots, if they do, clap and say well done. Really happy for him (Vyshak), he's putting in the hard yards in practice and was executing the yorkers really well. The result showed up in the game as well. The plan was if you're going to get hit, miss on the wider side. Won't be easy for batsmen to hit. It would slip a bit because of the dew, plan was to bowl as wide as possible. Credit goes to all the batters who went in and smashed the ball from ball one, that's how it's been going in this format these days. There's no par score to try and defend.

Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans captain: We got our chances when we were bowling and batting. Conceded too many runs at the back end, we let ourselves down with the fielding. Too many misfields and dropped catches. Matter of chases in such games. Those three overs in the middle we scored around 18 runs. We didn't score as many in the first three overs. That cost us the game. Many positives for us today, good start to the tournament, I'd say. (On Vyshak) Not easy coming in as an impact player and delivering those yorkers. Credit to them for delivering those yorkers. Always a good wicket to bat on here. Challenge is going to be restricting the opposition for those runs.
