Sikandar Raza, captain of the Bulawayo Braves, is of course the Player of the Match. Here's what he has to say: There's a bigger agenda here - we wanted to bring a franchise tournament here. Doesn't matter if we win or lose, they're supporting both sides here. That's what we wanted to do. We spoke about backing our plans and stick to our brand of cricket. I thought Maposa being an emerging player on debut today, his first over was excellent. You make mistakes but his graph will go up. He's a very exciting player. I think Timycen came out and gave the team the momentum that they required at the time. That gave me the confidence and with the ball as well, Taskin's first over...we weren't going to bowl Tymal but that was a late decision. Tanaka bowled really well. As much as I picked a couple of wickets I thought these guys set up the game.

Ends don't get any more poetic as far as a cricket match is concerned. Sikandar Raza has stolen the show and has dominated proceedings with an all-round display. It was his blitz with the bat that gave the Bulawayo Braves a total of 128 to defend and his bowlers duly responded with a magnificent display upfront.

Taskin Ahmed and Tymal Mills were very difficult to put away in the first two overs. Robin Uthappa and Donavon Ferreira perished early and the asking rate shot up to insurmountable heights within no time. Just about every bowler who came on delivered the goods and it was all but a formality from the outset with the Hurricanes falling way behind the eight-ball.

Mohammad Nabi picked up pace with a couple of lusty hits but it was never going to be enough. Wickets kept tumbling at regular intervals and stroke-making wasn't easy on that tacky surface. Truth be told, the Hurricanes conceded a few runs well above par and it was always going to hurt them unless they got off to a flyer. Once that wasn't to be, it all came apart alarmingly.

And of course, you cannot keep Raza out of the act can you? He added his bit with the ball to end with a three-fer, having the final say in the contest too with a wicket off the last ball. It was a great day out for the skipper and the Braves have kickstarted their campaign with a resounding victory!

9.6 Sikandar Raza to Nandre Burger, CASTLED! What a poetic end to the contest! Fired in full on off stump as Burger swings wildly. He misses, Raza hits and the off pole is dented. Bulawayo Braves get off the mark with a 49-run win!

A bit of misfortune for Raza but not much he can complain about given that his team is set to get first points here.

Great work by McDermott. He had to turn around and remove the bails but has done so brilliantly well.

9.4 Sikandar Raza to Luke Jongwe, keeps low off a short length on off stump. Jongwe heaves it to deep square leg and takes off before haring back. The stumps are dislodged by the keeper but has Jongwe made it back? Referred upstairs!

Ah! Just short of his ground as it turns out and Jongwe has to make the long walk back. RUN OUT!
