Commentary

Right then. India do what they had to do and get a comprehensive win which will boost their NRR. Now, they have to sit back and hope that Sri Lanka does them a favor and defeat South Africa. Parshavi Chopra is the Player of the Match. Here is what she has to say: Happy with the performance. The ball turned a lot and there was enough assistance for the spinners from the surface. We did well as a bowling unit. Hoping we can make it to the semi-finals.

Shafali Verma (Indian captain): We weren't able to sleep last night. We executed all our plans (today). Especially the bowlers and Parshavi. Very happy for her, that was fun. We stuck to our plans and backed each other throughout. We wanted to put in a good performance and we're pleased to do that.

Vishmi Gunaratne (Sri Lanka Women Captain): They made mistakes when they were batting. I really didn't think it will turn that much, that affected us today. We have to bounce back in the next game

It's a comfortable victory for India at the end of the day to keep their semi-finals hopes alive. After the bowlers did their bit in the first innings to restrict Sri Lanka to a total of only 59/9, India were expected to cruise through to the finish line and that they pretty much did.

Setup by Parshavi Chopra's magnificent spell in the first innings, the Women in Blue knew they had to gun down this target as soon as possible to give their NRR a boost. The Indian captain looked to do exactly that but perished rather cheaply while doing so. Richa Ghosh was promoted up the order with the same intention but that move didn't pay off either.

Dewmi Vihanga dismissed the two experienced batters in the same over to have India in a spot of bother. However, Soumya Tiwari ensured that no feathers were ruffled and imposed a swift counter-attack to ease the nerves. Vihanga eventually bagged three wickets in her spell and got rid of Sehrawat, but that wasn't enough for her side.

India eventually cruised through to a seven-wicket win to keep their campaign alive. Now, all they can do is sit back and hope that the other results go their way. Stick around for the presentations to hear what the captains have to say.

Flighted delivery on middle stump, Tiwari flicks it in front of square on the leg-side and runs across to the other end comfortably

What a blinder that is from the Sri Lankan captain! A rare failure for Sehrawat in this tournament but she's done her bit in this run chase. That wicket gives Sri Lanka something to celebrate but it will be India who take the honors after this contest.
