That is all we have from this CPL game. Till the next time, this is myself (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) signing off also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Rajarshi Das. Goodnight! Cheers!
Brandon King (Jamaica Tallawahs captain): The bowling has been good in general, but today it was outstanding. Reifer and Allen are two very positive guys for us. They have been given the role to finish an innings and they have done it brilliantly. He (Springer) has been incredible, he is a nice bloke and shows the hard work and puts in the hard yards in practice. We will try and win tomorrow's game, not leaving anything on other results. Our destiny is in our hands.
Evin Lewis (St Kitts and Nevis Patriots captain): It was a tough season for us. Unfortunately, we didn't come out on top. It was pretty tough. We started very well in the first 10 but had a pretty tough final 10. It was extra pace attempted from Oshane which didn't work. It was a fantastic innings from Cariah. We wanted to push him ahead if we lost early wickets. He couldn't do enough but that's done and dusted.
Shamar Springer is the Player Of The Match! Here's what he has to say: I started my prep back in Barbados. I knew I wasn't going to start, but I kept myself mentally prepared, waiting for the opportunity. The hard work paid off, so far. My thought was to go out there and settle things a bit, not to slow down the tempo as much. I just backed myself to put the balls away in my zone, and I was lucky today. I feel 100 percent fit now, body's a bit sore, but I'm ready for tomorrow's game. A bit of pool and massage session this evening, and I'll be close to 100 percent. A few people back home were asking me to do the celebration, so I just did it (goes on to perform the jig upon being asked).
Jamaica Tallawahs won by 59 runs
Shamar Springer 38(27) | Mohammad Amir 4/19(3.3) Yannic Cariah 65(40) | Ashmead Nedd 2/25(3)
The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots needed to get off to a good start if they had to chase down the tricky target of 179. It was a horrendous start for the Patriots as they lost their skipper Evin Lewis early in the piece to Imad Wasim. Mohammad Amir breathed fire with the new ball and bounced out Andre Fletcher with a very well-directed short delivery.
It was the youngster Shamar Springer who brought about the downfall of Will Smeed. The pressure was on the Patriots and unlike the Tallawahs who made a remarkable comeback, the Patriots kept sliding down the barrel and lost the plot towards the end. Yannic Cariah was sent up the order and didn't disappoint the team management.
He batted like a proper batsman and found the boundaries at a fair clip. He scored a superb half-century and was eventually dismissed by Mohammad Amir in his final over. The Pakistani speedster missed out a hat-trick by a whisker but managed to castle Oshane Thomas on the very next ball, handing the Tallawahs a resounding 59-run victory.
So that's the end of the game. Ashmead Nedd has suffered an injury and won't bat. That bring curtains down to a forgettable campaign for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. A valiant effort from Yannic Cariah gave them some stability but they were never really in the game. The target was a tricky one and they never really got going. They lost early wickets and towards the end, depsite some rearguard action by the likes of Cariah, it was a mountain too steep to climb for the Patriots. Mohammad Amir was the stand out bowler for the Tallawahs, finishing with figures of 4/19.
17.3 Mohammad Amir to Oshane Thomas, Amir doesn't miss this time! Slower delivery, pitched on a good length outside off. Thomas looked to defend, but had no idea about the movement back in off the pitch. The ball clatters into off stump, and as it turns out, the Patriots have been bowled out - Ashmead Nedd won't be able to bat due to that injury while fielding early on! The Jamaica Tallawahs are still in the race for playoffs having notched a 59-run win today!
Oshane Thomas b Mohammad Amir 0 (2b, 0x4, 0x6)
17.2 Mohammad Amir to Oshane Thomas, that one was past Thomas before he knew it! Yorker on leg stump, Thomas was ages late in getting his bat down, and the ball somehow evades leg stump! So close to a hat-trick!
Oshane Thomas, LHB is the new man in.
Two in a row for Reifer and Amir continues to chip in with wickets. He has been such a good addition for the Jamaica Tallawahs. This was the final nail in the coffin for the Patriots. The Tallawahs will look to finish it off now.
