So that will be it for Qualifier 1. We wanted a full game, sadly, rain had a say and it got curtailed. But full credit to Jaffna Kings for playing the conditions brilliantly and making the Final. As for Kandy Falcons, they will be in action tomorrow in Qualifier 2 to give themselves one more shot at the title. But for now, it will be the Eliminator to take place in a few moments from now, so you can switch tabs to follow us on that. This is the pair of Srivathsa and Bidipto, saying good bye. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Thisara Perera: If we are doing our best things, we are on top of the other teams. Everyone is fully fit and looking to play the best team for the finals.
Wanindu Hasaranga: Of course. We are short by 20-30 runs. That cost us. He will play, he is fit [on Chamika Karunaratne for tomorrow].
Vijaykanth Viyaskanth: Try to bowl wicket to wicket and the coaches helped me a lot.
Vijaykanth Viyaskanth is the Player of the Match.
Jaffna Kings - 98/3, beat Kandy Falcons - 143/8, by 24 runs (DLS method) and progress to the Lanka Premier League T20, 2022 Final.
Avishka Fernando 21 (11) | Vijayakanth Viyaskanth - 3/30 Pathum Nissanka 35 (31) | Carlos Brathwaite - 2/32
The batting from the Jaffna Kings was simply superb! They went for the runs right from the first over without leaving it late. They did lose some wickets in the process, but the idea was clear, and that to go for the runs without holding back. That ploy came good in the end, by some margin!
Rahmanullah Gurbaz started it off with some aggressive shots, with the intent to get on with things. Avishka Fernando followed suit, with some exquisite strokes, and the same intent of getting the move on.
Once Gurbaz went, Afif came out to bat, continuing with the similar intention of not holding back. Avishka and he played together for some more quick runs, before the in-form opener got out, trying to hit a six.
Carlos Brathwaite meanwhile, picked up two more wickets in the tournament. But as for Jaffna, the runs kept coming thick and fast. Just before the first rain break, Afif fell to Chamika Karunaratne, but his team was well ahead on the D/L scoring.
When the action resumed, Dunith Wellalage and Sadeera Samarawickrama were quick to begin things from where they were left, by picking up the pace of the game and scoring the runs rather quickly, till the second rain break.
As Chamika Karunaratne hobbled off with injury before two more legitimate deliveries were bowled, Jaffna were 24 runs ahead of Kandy.
7:07 PM IST: As is the case, news coming in from the Premadasa is that Jaffna Kings have won the match on the DLS method by 24 runs as play could not resume after the second spell of rain. The ground is well covered still. And the drops of rain are still visible.

10.6 Chamindu Wijesinghe to Dunith Wellalage, short over middle from over the wicket, and pulled around to deep square-leg off the back foot for one. Once again, rain comes down and takes the players off the field. The covers are coming on. At the moment, Jaffna are 24 runs ahead on the D/L scoring.
10.6 Chamindu Wijesinghe to Dunith Wellalage, WIDE once again with the short ball down the leg-side! And the first bouncer for the over.
