Maheesh Theekshana: A Brief Biography
Morawakage Maheesh Theekshana, popularly known as Maheesh Theekshana, is a Sri Lankan cricketer who hails from the capital city of Colombo. Born on August 1, 2000, Theekshana is primarily a right-arm off-break bowler who is a disciple of the school of mystery spin. He has taken inspiration from veteran Sri Lankan mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis and has copied the same bowling action, putting it to full effect to deceive the batters at ease.
Theekshana has variety and thrift under his belt, enabling the spinner to read the minds of the batter and adjust the line and length. He has been ruling the roost in T20 cricket and would be eyeing to replicate the same form in the other formats. The 24-year-old is a regular member of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Maheesh Theekshana Domestic Career
In the SLC Twenty20 Tournament 2018, Maheesh Theekshana made his T20 debut for the Colts Cricket Club against the Lankan Cricket Club on March 1, 2018, in Colombo. A few weeks later, he made his List-A debut against Galle Cricket Club and picked up a three-wicket haul. In December 2018, he made his first-class (FC) debut against Colombo Cricket Club.
Maheesh Theekshana IPL Career
The Chennai Super Kings had snaffled Maheesh Theekshana for INR 70 lakhs at the IPL 2022 mega auction. He made his IPL debut against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Theekshana has been economical with the ball and was part of the CSK setup in their victorious season in 2023. Though he has been instrumental in offering spin in the turning tracks of Chepauk, Theekshana has been sloppy in the field for Super Kings.
