Will Jacks Career
Will Jacks has been considered a serious prospect for his batting exploits and the bonus of rolling over his arm, giving the team that he represents a multi-dimensional option.
Will Jacks's Domestic Career
Will Jacks scored fame when he smashed a 25-ball century in a domestic T10 match for Surrey against Lancashire in Dubai. He made his domestic debut for Surrey across all formats in 2018.
Jacks smashed his maiden List-A century against Gloucestershire at the Kia Oval in the Royal London One-Day Cup. He scored an impressive 121 off just 100 balls as he stitched a partnership of 158 runs for the second wicket with the then South African Test skipper Dean Elgar to help Surrey chase down a target of 283 in about 46 overs.
In the Vitality Blast 2023, Jacks hammered Middlesex’s Luke Hollman for five consecutive sixes, showing his immense ability to clobber the opposition.
Jacks has played across various franchise leagues, but he made headlines in 2024 when he opened the batting and smashed a 41-ball century in the SA20 for the Pretoria Capitals against Durban Super Giants, which was also the fastest century in the history of the tournament that has been two seasons old.
Will Jacks IPL Career
Will Jacks was snaffled up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru) in the IPL 2023 auction for INR 3.5 crores, but could not feature as he was ruled out of that season due to an injury.
He made his IPL debut in IPL 2024 against the Mumbai Indians as he replaced the out-of-form Glenn Maxwell, but did not get going in the initial matches. However, he announced himself at the biggest of stages in franchise cricket as the 25-year-old Englishman decided to take on the Gujarat Titans’ bowlers to cleaners, smashing his maiden IPL century and the fifth-fastest in the history of the tournament after Chris Gayle (RCB), Yusuf Pathan (RR), David Miller (PBKS) and Travis Head (SRH).
Jacks was sitting on 17 runs off 17 balls when he was struggling to get going, with Virat Kohli getting a half-century at the other end. He reached his half-century off 31 balls and decided to stop applying brakes, shift gears, accelerate, and come clutch as he gobbled the next 10 deliveries to reach another 50 and complete his century off 41 deliveries. The RCB batter was on 94* and needed 1 off just 25 balls, but he decided to smack Rashid Khan to reach his century and seal the match in style, helping the Royal Challengers get their third win off the season to boost their Net Run Rate and keep their minute chances of qualifying for the playoffs alive. Jacks also bagged a couple of wickets with the ball in the 8 matches he played.
Will Jacks International Career
Will Jacks made his international debut in a T20I against Pakistan but surprisingly made a name for himself in the record books with the ball in a Test against Pakistan as he grabbed a six-wicket haul on debut. With his talent on paper as a batting all-rounder, he has been considered England’s all-format superstar in the making.
Will Jacks ODI Career
Will Jacks made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in Mirpur on March 01, 2023. He bowled a few overs and managed to take the wicket of Afif Hossain and in reply, scored 26 runs off 31 balls as England eased past Bangladesh in an easy chase.
In the second ODI against Ireland in Ireland's tour of England before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 preparations, a second-string England team paved the way for Jacks as an opener and he smashed 94 off 88 balls, his personal best, to be adjudged the ‘Player of the Match.’
Will Jacks Test Career
Will Jacks made his Test debut against Pakistan on December 01, 2022, in Rawalpindi. Quite surprisingly, Jacks’ performance with the ball overtook his batting as he scored 30 runs off 29 balls before claiming a six-wicket haul on his Test debut, becoming the first English spinner to take a six-wicket haul in 19 years after James Kirtley in 2003.
Will Jacks T20I Career
Will Jacks made his maiden appearance in the international arena for England in a T20I against Pakistan on September 23, 2022, in Karachi. He opened the batting with wicketkeeper Phil Salt and smashed 40 off just 20 balls, hitting 8 boundaries in the process at a strike rate of 181.81.
Though he has found batting prowess in the franchise leagues, Jacks is yet to score big for his country in the 16 matches he has played so far (as of June 2024), averaging just about 16 in the format. Having said that, the Englishman has been selected for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 on the back of his imperious ball-striking ability to go with handy overs with the ball that he has proven time and again across franchise cricket.
Will Jacks Captaincy
Will Jacks was named as the captain of Surrey in the Vitality Blast quarter-final in the absence of their regular skipper Chris Jordan in 2022. The result did not go their way as Surrey was knocked out of the tournament.
Will Jacks Under-19 Career

Jacks announced himself at the junior level with an all-round performance, scoring 193 runs at an average of 38.60 to go with 7 wickets with the ball. He scored a century against Canada U-19 to help the team storm into the quarterfinals with an emphatic victory.
