Match drawn; Karnataka pocket three points, Chandigarh take a lone point.
Karnataka finished second in Group C having failed to register an outright win over Chandigarh but a mammoth first innings lead was enough to seal their passage into the knockouts. Despite losing Shivam Bhambri (33) early on the fourth morning, Chandigarh put on a stubborn resistance thanks to Arslan Khan (63) and Mayank Sidhu (56*) with Karan Kalia (25* off 93) also doing his bit. V Koushik was the pick of the bowlers for Karnataka with 2/26 off his ten overs and with 27 points, the hosts finished second to Tamil Nadu (28 points) in their group.
Stumps on Day 3 - Chandigarh 61/0, trail Karnataka by 235 runs in the 2nd innings.
Karnataka are all but through to the knockouts on the back of a sensational batting performance that saw them whip up 563/5 before Mayank Agarwal declared the innings in Hubballi. Manish Pandey top-scored with 148 but Sharath Srinivas (100*) and Vijaykumar Vyshak (103*) notched up their maiden first-class runs to pile further misery on Chandigarh, with their unbeaten stand worth 198. Winning this game will only see the hosts carry forward momentum and confidence into the quarterfinals - can they pick up ten wickets then on the final day?
Stumps on Day 2 - Karnataka 268/3, lead Chandigarh by 1 run in the 2nd innings.
Hardik Raj and Vijaykumar Vyshak bagged four wickets apiece to bowl Chandigarh out for 267, post which Karnataka dominated proceedings to take a lead of one run by Stumps. Manish Pandey powered along to a rapid century and is currently batting on 102 with Hardik taking the more sedate route as he's unbeaten on 49. Captain Mayank Agarwal (57) and his deputy Nikin Jose (37) also made useful contributions and Karnataka might well have a foot into the knockouts with this.
Stumps on Day 1 - Chandigarh 219/6 in the 1st innings.
A hard fought day for Chandigarh in Hubballi, although table-toppers Karnataka will be happy having chipped away regularly without conceding too many runs. Left-arm spinner Hardik Raj had a lot of bowling to do but was at his economical best for the hosts while bagging a couple of wickets. Karan Kalla (79) was the standout performer with the bat even as Chandigarh needed a lot more from the rest. Can they somehow scrap their way to 300 tomorrow?
