"The wicket seems dry. This is the third match being played on this strip and runs have not been easy to score. There are some bare patches. There is some grass, but a spinner will be looking to land it in those patches. The smaller dimensions are the saving grace for the batters. 62m on one side and 64m on the other. 11:17 PM IST: That brings us to the end of our coverage for the KKR-PBKS match which ends in a stalemate. This is the first match which has been abandoned in the ongoing season. Feel for the Kolkata fans who came out in large numbers but it was 'Kalbaishaki' who had the final laugh. It's a double header Sunday tomorrow with Mumbai Indians slated to host the Lucknow Supergiants in the 3:30 PM encounter while Delhi Capitals will host the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the second match of the day starting from 7:30 PM. 11:06 PM IST: The match has been called off and it was always on the cards given the thunderstorm in Kolkata today. It was one of those games which KKR needed to win badly but they had to bat out of their skin to reach the target which they were set.

However if we had a rain curtailed game, there was an opportunity for them to post a win but the rain had other ideas and both teams share a point each. The Punjab Kings openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh showed their maturity and mixed caution with aggression to stitch together a massive 120 run stand.

Prabhsimran continued the great work post Arya’s departure but his dismissal changed the complexion of the game. From a position where it looked, PBKS would post well in excess of 220-230, they were restricted to 201/4 in their 20 overs. KKR only batted for an over before the match was called off due to rain.

11 PM IST: So the inevitable has happened, the match between KKR and PBKS has been called off due to inclement weather. This will hurt the chances of KKR as they desperately needed a win today but you can't really help with the weather gods, can you? Both teams will share a point each.
