So that's it, we have come to the end our coverage for the LSG-DC game and it was the Capitals who returned to winning ways by brushing aside the Lucknow Supergiants by 6 wickets. What does it do as far as the table is concerned? Delhi Capitals have moved up one place to 9th while LSG goes down one place at the 4th spot with CSK taking over the 3rd spot. It will be a confidence booster for the Capitals while LSG have a few things to ponder on. However, they are not badly placed and few losses in the earlier part of the tournament might be better off than losing in the business end. We will be back tomorrow with another IPL contest between the Punjab Kings and the Rajasthan Royals. Do join us then and for many more sporting actions but for now this is me (Arya Sekhar Chakraborty) bidding adieu also on behalf of my fellow commentator and good mate Pradeep. Goodnight! Cheers!
Kuldeep Yadav is the Player of the Match, here is what he had to say: I mean I wasn't fit. I got myself injured in the first game and it was difficult to see my team struggling in the middle overs. Patrick and Vivek has done a great job to maintain me and get me ready for this game. All those are important wickets and especially when you get three wickets in the middle overs and control the run rate. I liked the first wicket, second obviously I have played a lot against Pooran. The execution was right, that was a good ball. I was very much clear with my plan, just the length matters for a spinner. Good length is a good length and I was focussing on that. I mean whenever I feel like it is fifty fifty I try to go. Whenever it is 60 40 I listen to Rishabh. DRS is something as a bowler you want to take. When you have two DRS one is obviously for me (chuckles).
Rishabh Pant (Delhi Capitals captain): I think little relief as we wanted a win badly. We wanted to think like champions. Things don't always go your way but you have to keep fighting hard. There have been phases where we haven't been up to the mark as a bowling group and some individuals have to step up. At the same time, something's you can control and some things you can't. I think mostly it's close together but with some many injuries it's difficult to get backup players but we won't be making excuses. I think most probably, I haven't thought about it. Taking one match at a time.
It's time for the post match presentation ceremony with Deep Dasgupta.
David Warner was dismissed in an unfortunate fashion but that didn't really matter in the eventual result of the game. Switch 👇 to witness the dismissal for the ones who missed it.
Jake Fraser-McGurk (Delhi Capitals): I've spent the last 5 or 6 games in the sidelines, was itching to get out there and the first game, I'm stoked. Was just more to swing too hard, try to find the middle of the bat, watching the ball and reacting to it, that's what I did. Over the one over cover, I liked the one's that I hit on the off-side. Something that I'll continue to learn to do, rotating the strike, something that comes with the experience, try and not hit every ball for a six. I'm so happy to be here, it's a different world, never seen anything like it, first hand experience has been brilliant and hopefully more, amazing time to be in India.
KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants captain): I think, we were about 15 or 20 runs short, after that kind of start and we couldn't capitalise, 180 would've been a good score. There was help there, Kuldeep used that to his advantage and put the breaks on the batting group. We stayed in the game, fought till the end, McGurk, the new guy came in and unknown, we watched a lot of videos of him but he hit the ball really well, credit to him. We always walk in with the same kind of mindset, try to hit the right areas, try and execute well. We got the Warner in the powerplay, put the pressure with a couple of wickets and we got couple more after the powerplay, we were in the game but Rishabh and McGurk took the game away from us. It's a quick turnaround, not really sure, travel, turn up and pick up two more points. In hindsight, you can wonder if you could've done something differently. After first over of Axar, thought there isn't much and send Nicky P with the kind of hitting skills he has, put the pressure back on the opposition and had to bowl their spinners at that stage of the game, if he could've set, it would've turned good for us but credit to Kuldeep. He's feeling good, we need to make sure we shouldn't rush into the game early, he's young and we need to protect him and make sure he's 100% before he comes back.
