Thipatcha Putthawong (Thailand captain): Initially, I had a bit of anxiety as the first-time captain. We have a lot of youngsters so it was a different feeling not having the seniors around. I didn't have to say anything. I am very confident in my bowlers and fielders and knew we won't let them get away. Really enjoyed the day.

Nannapat Koncharoenkai is the Player of the Match!: It was the first time the new captain was onboard. We were missing a lot of players. The first game brought anxiety and excitement. That's why we struggled to pick the early wickets. But once we got going, we picked up a ton of wickets. We didn't take too much pressure. A big, excellent win for Thailand. They get here by overcoming the downs and riding the ups strongly. Their captain Thipatcha Putthawong is now the youngest to win a women's Asia Cup game and she deserves it for keeping her side patient and professional in the second innings.

They needed those qualities because of the rock-solid opening partnership between Julia and Winifred. They remained unbeaten in the first half and scored at six runs/over, picking the occasional boundary and keeping the strike rotation going.

However, as soon as Kamchomphu got rid of the captain, everything changed. Julia couldn't accelerate and no other batter could go past single digits. Julia reached her fifty but wickets fell like nine pins on the other end, due to poor shots and run-outs, all thanks to the strict wicket-to-wicket bowling from Thailand.

Juila got run-out trying to retain the strike, too, and Thailand wrapped things up immediately after.
