For the moment though, this is the duo of Pradeep and Sooryanarayanan taking your leave. Thank you so much for tuning into our coverage of this contest as we hope you enjoyed it. See you around soon - good night and take care!
One team has snapped its losing streak while also ending the winning streak of the other. The Royal Kings must not lose heart from this result and will look to bounce back quickly. As for the Tiruppur Tamizhans, this is where they'd hope to start peaking and generate a nice head of steam for the rest of the competition.
NS Chaturved (iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans captain): Definitely a big relief but at the end of the day we could have chased it quicker. But we understand that the wicket was a bit different. It was about trying to finish it as soon as we could and that's why we sent Vivek up the order. Then we used Ganesh to see how he goes. Bhuvaneswaran is a very skillful bowler. He has taken a lot of wickets in the second division. He can swing the new ball and bowl well at the death. I really enjoyed it (captaincy) and felt I was more into the game.
Arun Karthik (Nellai Royal Kings captain): Nothing went right for us. We lost the toss and then lost too many wickets. Two crucial run outs too and had we added 20-25 runs it would have helped. Then that Sandeep Warrier over. They bowled the right areas and there was some moisture in the pitch. If the wicket was better maybe Ajitesh would have batted up the order. We had a thought of using all-rounder NS Harish as an impact player but we got a good partnership there so we felt it wasn't needed. We're a young side. A loss like this when we're undefeated can happen. We'll go back to the drawing board, analyze what needs to be done and return in the next game.
P Bhuvaneswaran is the Player of the Match for his outstanding spell of 5/17. Here's what he has to say: We had discussed our plans and the coaches had told us what to do. Very happy (to get the Purple Cap). The plan was to just bowl the right areas and stick to the basics. The coaches gave a lot of support and it's great playing with the likes of Sai anna and Vijay anna. When I started playing cricket, Vijay Dandapani from Erode supported me a lot. Would like to dedicate this to him.
Tushar Raheja: I think we had a great team, first two games didn't go the way we wanted but we knew we could do it today. We stuck to our game process, just one which was needed for us, it came off today. Wasn't a big total, but stuck to the game plan and the wicket had something in it for the bowlers but targeted the powerplay. We just take one game at a time, momentum is important, can't think too far ahead in this format.
Match Summary: iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans beat Nellai Royal Kings by 7 wickets.
A comprehensive victory for the Tiruppur Tamizhans who are off the mark in their third match of the season. They were always on top of this contest with P Bhuvaneswaran setting them up with a brilliant five-fer as he dismantled the Nellai Royal Kings' batting lineup to restrict them to 124.
In response, Tushar Raheja was up and running in a flash and seemed to be in a hurry to wrap this up. He took a liking to Sandeep Warrier in particular and carted him all around the park as the game was slipping away from Nellai already. An LBW call on the field was overturned by the TV umpire who reckoned that there was a spike even though it was a very minor one that UltraEdge detected. Sundararaman Radhakrishnan complemented Raheja beautifully as the Tamizhans remained ahead of the eight-ball before Sonu Yadav castled the former.
And then, just like that, came a slowdown. Lakshay Jain had Raheja tied up in knots as he slowed things down with the southpaw unable to break free. B Anirudh Sita Ram also struggled to get any kind of momentum into his innings and once Raheja departed, you just felt that the door was left slightly ajar for the Royal Kings to creep back in. Rajendran Vivek was sent up to play his shots and so he did, putting the result beyond doubt thereafter.
The bowlers still did well to stretch the game as much as they could and limit considerable damage to the Royal Kings' net run-rate. Eventually though, the result was inevitable with Tiruppur Tamizhans getting on the board for the season with an outstanding 7-wicket win which they'd hope will catalyze their season.
That's how you finish it off! It was a crawl for Anirudh Sita Ram but he has managed to wrap it up in style. iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans are on the board with a 7-wicket win!
18.2 S Mohan Prasath to B Anirudh Sita Ram, FOUR! DONE AND DUSTED! Emphatic win for Tiruppur as they register their first win of the tournament. Short on the fourth stump, Ram camps back and thumped it over the top of mid-off, runs away to seal the game with a boundary.
