Commentary

Right then, Australia and New Zealand advance from this group. The other group is still open for three teams. Indian fans would be so disappointed seeing Pakistan lose like that. They'd know that if they didn't have a target on their head they'd have played calmly and used the pressure on New Zealand to chase this. But you can't fault them and India have themselves to blame for letting it come to this stage. The New Zealand-India game proved to be the quarter-final, as many anticipated, and it turned out like that.

Pakistan can be quite proud of themselves. They did so many things right and almost molded themselves into the image of their fighting captain. A bit more improvement in fielding and some extensive work in batting can help them get even better. But that's it for now, folks. Sophie Devine (New Zealand captain): It hasn't quite sunk-in yet (semi-finals). So incredibly proud of this group. 2016 was the last time I think. It's been a long time between the drinks. The results haven't gone for us. The thing I am most proud of is we have stuck to our processes, knowing that if we do things right, we can beat any team. The youngsters stepped up again for us today. Pakistan were incredibly clever with how they ball. The wicket wasn't that bad but they bowled so well by keeping it slow. We thought 140 would be good at the end of the powerplay but to then just scrap to 110, credit to them. We knew they were going to have a crack with the NRR making things interesting. It was always going to be about who held their nerve better. We get a day off tomorrow, then it's a couple of days of training. It's about going with open eyes. I just want the girls to lap up the experience. It's going to be a big opportunity. There's going to be pressure, it's going be nerve-wracking. But these are the moments you play for. Whoever our opponent is, we'll just go out there and enjoy.

Fatima Sana (Pakistan captain): I think we were good in bowing. We need to improve bowling and fielding. Our seniors should step up in these kinds of matches, that's the main thing. As a bowling unit, we were up to the mark. We need to improve batting otherwise we can't survive in women's cricket.

Eden Carson (Player of the Match, 2/7 in 3 overs): I'm lost for words! We are in the semi-finals and I contributed in it, it's great! The Pakistan spinners bowled really well and I did take a cue from it when I bowled. As I got into it, I felt better with my bowling and that they had to go after the bowling kind of made it easy for me but the wickets and the ball coming off my hand the way I wanted, was what pleased me. Bowling to Fatima and Nida Dar was challenging, so that was a good contest.

Pakistan are bowled out for their lowest-ever Women's T20 World Cup total. It's also the second-lowest overall in history. It has happened because they wanted to chase this total in 11 overs to seal their spot in the semis but it has also happened because New Zealand were excellent, like they have been all tournament.

Pakistan came out all guns blazing and New Zealand deployed the best strategy possible: rotating the bowlers and asking everyone to keep it simple, on the stumps and try to stop runs. Pakistan attacked and attacked and lost half of their side in the powerplay.

Fatima Sana, like she so often does, tried to keep her team afloat. She was joined by Nida Dar who also played a decent hand for a while but they didn't stop playing their shots, even when chasing it in 11 overs was out of reach. Kerr came through and slit up the middle order with her three wickets.

New Zealand's pacers learned from Pakistan's tweakers and kept it slow and forced the batters to create their own power. The Kiwis were forced into the trap because they wanted as many runs on board. Whereas, Pakistan fell into it because they wanted to try their best. In the end, the deserving team has gone through!

11.4 Amelia Kerr to Sadia Iqbal, NEW ZEALAND WOMEN ARE IN THE SEMI-FINALS OF THE T20 WORLD CUP! Full and slow on middle-and-leg. Sadia went for the big shot from the front foot but failed to connect it clean. The ball got skewed up to the fielder at wide mid-on and she ended up taking it with fingers pointing up!
