Right then. That is it from this contest. It's double-header Sunday though and we've got an exciting second encounter on the cards. Karachi Kings are set to take on the Lahore Qalandars at 7:30 PM IST. You can catch all the action from that game, right here. Until next time, this is Pratyush Rohra, signing off on behalf of my co-commentator, Karthik Raj. See you around!
Paul Stirling, Player of the Match: I think as the tournament is going, it's getting better and better. The lacour of the ball is going later and it's being easy. I think Halesy is being well here, We have played for over a year now and it has been going well.
Shadab Khan: When we win, we're happy. The attitude coming into this contest was quite pleasing. We are a young team. The attitude and intensity is important for us. (On chasing net run rate) Not really, but I believe in going and taking the feel of the game. I told Gurbaz to play his natural game. If he sticks around till the end, he can spend some time in the middle and that's good for him in the upcoming matches as well.
Wahab Riaz: There's some pain around the wrists. My foot just got stuck in the crease. I think we had a very good total on this wicket. We didn't bowl well as a bowling unit. Islamabad United mixed up their slower ones quite well and we couldn't do the same.
The Player of the Match is Paul Stirling
Islamabad United won by 9 wickets.
Handshakes all around as the two teams walk off. It was a demolition job by Islamabad United are they ran riot from start to finish. It was Faheem Ashraf who did the damage with the ball early on but Sherfane Rutherford's brilliant 70* gave Zalmi a glimmer of hope. 169 was always a below-par total on the board, especially when the opposition top-three consists of Paul Stirling, Alex Hales and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
The Englishman and the Irishman joined hands to construct a destructive powerplay and essentially bat Peshawar out of this contest. Speaking of powerplays, you couldn't have asked for much more contrasting fortunes in the first six overs. It was where the game was won and lost.
So, Islamabad get their tournament underway with a victory. They'll be looking to build on this momentum they've gathered in their first game. As for Peshawar, it's a case of taking this as a blip and getting past it as quickly as possible. They'll be itching to get back on the field in their next contest.
We'll get the post-match thoughts from both captains. Stick around for the presentations.
Alex Hales wraps proceedings up in style! Islamabad United cruise through this run chase to register their first win of the tournament. As one-sided a contest you could expect to see. It was a demolition! Islamabad United win by 9 wickets.
15.5 Ben Cutting to Alex Hales, THAT'S IT!! Hales finishes off the match with a boundary. Full-toss, Hales drives it fine of the fielder at mid-off and the ball races away to the fence. This seals a dominant nine-wicket victory with 26 balls to spare!!
Scores are level.
15.4 Ben Cutting to Alex Hales, full and down leg, Hales flicks it behind square for a boundary. FOUR!! Just one to win now!
