Royal Eagles beat Baneasa by 8 wickets
Gihan Sanjeewa 26 (19) | Adeel Muhammad 24 (25) Saood Jan 1/7 | Miha Anik 1/12
The last time these two teams were up against each other, Haidar Ali could not take the Eagles over the line in the final over. But he has redeemed himself here. A fantastic knock of 22 runs in just 7 balls to go with his tidy bowling figures of 1/14 in 2 overs. He hit three sixes in the last over and ensured that his team did not bottle it.
However, Royal Eagles have to ask themselves how did they get in that position? Their bowlers had done well to restrict the opposition to a mere 78. Yet, they did not go for the bonus point. Adeel Muhammad and Yasir Muhammad played scratchy knocks up the order, chewing up deliveries and rendering too much for the middle order to do.
The Baneasa bowlers did well to keep them in check and drag the match into the final over. But it was never their game to lose anyway. The batters are the ones to be blamed for this loss. Alongside that some poor fielding also came back to haunt them.
9.4 Isfahan Doekhie to Haidar Ali, SIX MORE! ROYAL EAGLES WIN A MATCH THEY SHOULD HAVE WON MANY OVERS BACK! Back of a length around off-stump. Banged away from the back foot from deep in the crease well over cow corner for a maximum!
4 runs to win off 3 balls.
9.3 Isfahan Doekhie to Haidar Ali, SIX RUNS! Length ball yet again around off-stump. Thumped over deep mid-wicket from the back foot right out of the meat of the blade!
10 runs to win off 4 balls now.
9.2 Isfahan Doekhie to Haidar Ali, good length ball around off-stump. Slammed around to the left of deep mid-wicket off the back foot for a couple of runs after a good stop near the boundary. The third could have been on but Haidar lost his pad at the striker's end!
9.1 Isfahan Doekhie to Haidar Ali, SIX! Good length ball on off-stump. Clobbered well over deep mid-wicket from the crease for a maximum!
Isfahan Doekhie, right arm medium, is at his starting mark.
Baneasa skipper will bowl for the first time in the match.
How did we get to this? One over to go and the Eagles still need 18 runs to win. This has been a poor chase.
