Siechem Madurai Panthers get one step closer to the playoffs with that win, while the Salem Spartans edge one step closer to diminishing all their chances to do the same. They'll need to turn things around quickly if they are to be in the hunt, where things are already spicing up in the middle. Right then. That's all the action we have from the TNPL tonight. This is the duo of Pratyush and Pradeep, taking your leave. Do join us tomorrow for some more TNPL action from Coimbatore. Tata for now. Goodnight!
NS Chaturved (Captain, Siechem Madurai Panthers): Very happy whoever stepped in tonight. Varun is a big miss for us. We had the faith in our bench strength. We are more than satisfied with what they offered. Apart from the one game where we conceded 200 runs, the bowling has been brilliant. They've done games for us. It was a very important partnership with Rithik and that allowed me to settle it. That 50-run partnership set the tone for us in the next innings.
Rithik Easwaran is the Player of the Match for his match-winning 41 off 27 balls. Here's what he has to say: I always try to enjoy myself when I bat. I've been asked to be a livewire behind the stumps. I don't think it needed to be asked but it's nice to be. We've had some big losses but the dressing room atmosphere is always positive. We believe we can do whatever needs to be done.
Murugan Ashwin (Captain, Salem Spartans): It's about taking the responsibility as a batting group, we need to build partnerships work towards that and we didn't do that today. Another game in 2 days, we need turn it around and play out of our skins and coming together as a group, will look forward to do that.
Right then. That's one of the most one-sided games you'll see all season. The result had been inevitable for a while, really. Salem Spartans were second best throughout and still remain winless as the Madurai Panthers pick up the two points in this contest.
Chasing a par total of 166, Salem got off to a decent start courtesy of their two openers. Once the opening stand was broken though, there wasn't much else to talk about in the innings. Pranav Kumar was the highest scorer, ending on 25, while none of the other batters even managed to cross the 20-run mark.
The middle-order was woeful throughout with the highest partnership coming between Pranav and Jamal for the seventh wicket stand (28). The move to bat Jamal as a finisher didn't pay off at all, partly because the middle order failed to set any sort of platform for their side.
A clinical performance from the Panthers as they keep their winning run going. Silambarasan was the star of the show with the ball in hand, while Easwaran was sensational with the bat in his maiden TNPL innings. All in all, it was a comprehensive victory for the Panthers. Stick around for the presentations!

19.6 Aushik Srinivas to Ganeshan Periyasamy, SIX! BAM! Periyasamy finishes the game with a maximum, he connects big as he plants his front foot across and SMOKES it over long-on for a maximum. Panthers now pick up the two points, they finish a comprehensive victory here!
And another one to reload.
19.6 Aushik Srinivas to Ganeshan Periyasamy, WIDE! Drops it short but strays it way outside the off-stump, called a wide.
Not quite, Pradeep. Not quite. Another delivery to go because the bowler has overstepped.
