So, that will be all from Hyderabad! But do switch tabs and join us on the Delhi Capitals vs Punjab Kings match which is underway in Delhi. For now, this is the pair of Pratyush and Bidipto taking your leave. Keep following Sportskeeda!
Prerak Mankad has the been adjudged the Player of the Match! Here is what he has to say.
Prerak Mankad: The personal score does not matter to me actually, it all boils down to the contribution for the team. So, in this important match, my focus was to help the side win, as simple as that. I am thankful to my captain and the management for giving me this opportunity to play. I like building an innings and back myself. Things did go well today and that makes me feel good. (On batting with Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran) I wasn't that affected much by the presence of someone like Marcus Stoinis at the other end but at one stage I was. He then came up to me, had a word and reset things pretty nicely. I also think that because of Nicholas Pooran and him, we got the result in our favour.
Krunal Pandya (Lucknow Super Giants captain): I guess we pulled things back pretty well with the ball. They were going for over 200 at one stage but our bowlers, even after getting a tap, managed to restrict the flow of runs. I would have taken 175 for sure. Watching someone like Nicholas Pooran bat, I can say that he is extremely confident about his game. He can do special things. Prerak Mankad's confidence will get a massive boost after a knock like this, that is for sure!
It's time for the post-match presentation!
Nicholas Pooran: We spoke at the break and we felt like we needed to hit sixes to win the game. We knew there was a spinner to come and we knew it was important to take him on. It was my matchup, so I got into my work and took it on. Thank you to the Sunrisers for that (smiles). T20 is a batters game. Part-timers are on for wickets or you can target them. This game is all about taking risks. No risk, no reward. When you get the match ups, you have to make it count. [Dealing with situations] I play ODI cricket, so I know I can deal with different situations. My role in this team is to come in the last 4-5 overs and put the team in a good position. I have to put myself in good positions, dealing with the yorkers and trying to find the boundaries.
Aiden Markram: Thought it was a decent score. It was a 175-180 wicket. We batted pretty well and missed out on that one big partnership. We would have taken it at the halfway stage. The wicket did slow up a bit. [Lengths from bowlers] The only time you traveled on this wicket is when you went full. The plan was to bowl into the pitch but pressure is an interesting thing. When you get put under pressure from high-quality players, it's difficult. Glenn is the off-spinner in the team and he did his job in the middle with the left-handers in. With the right-handers, I didn't think I was the man for the job. That's what it's about. The guys have to use the next three games as an opportunity for them and we look forward to see what they can bring. I haven't done the math yet, but let's see how it goes.
Lucknow Super Giants win by 7 wickets with 4 balls to spare!
Till the 16th over of the 2nd innings it was all Sunrisers Hyderabad! The way they bowled, the way they fielded and the way they controlled things suggested that their second win at home this season was unstoppable. But, come the 16th over and everything turned around!
Abhishek Sharma was given the responsibility to bowl it. He took an important wicket. Marcus Stoinis tried to hit over long-off but found the fielder. By then, 13 runs had been given away. However, that wicket gave the home side much needed relief and more hope of the win.
Out came Nicholas Pooran and smashed three sixes off the next three balls to end the over with 31 runs in it! After that, it was all one-way traffic!
Lucknow Super Giants plundered 14, 10, and 10 runs off the next three overs to leave only 4 runs to get in the last one. They finished the job with only two balls into it! Pooran ended not out at 44 off just 13 balls!
Stoinis himself scored some crucial runs. 40 off 25 balls was a decent effort in a pitch that was slowing down and getting more and more difficult to score on. But, the sensible and responsible innings that held the innings came from the bat of young Prerak Mankad who became the only LSG batter at number 3 to score a half-century!
He saw through the tough phase of the innings and kept the scoreboard ticking over from his end. But he did not fail to put the bad balls away at any stage. The best part was him staying unbeaten in the end to see his side home.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad now have three games to go. They are still on 8 points and must win all three to give themselves a chance of making the playoffs.
Lucknow Super Giants though are in the fourth position now with 13 points and well and truly in contention to qualify for the playoffs.
19.2 Fazalhaq Farooqi to Nicholas Pooran, LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS GET THE JOB DONE! Pooran roars in delight before celebrating with his partner. Once again, he's added some finishing touches to this innings. Angling in the yorker into the pads and Pooran gets enough bat on it to beat short fine leg to seal the deal for his side. LSG win by 7 wickets with 4 balls to spare!
Phillips is still giving it his all in the field! Tremendous!
19.1 Fazalhaq Farooqi to Nicholas Pooran, back of a length on the middle stump line. Pooran swats it to deep mid-wicket where Phillips does exceptionally to cover some ground before diving to his right. Full commitment, even if it might not count in the grand scheme of things
