And down come the curtains on another edition of the Women's T20 Challenge. The Supernovas will celebrate long and hard into the night! Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals are the last men standing and one of those two teams will be crowned champions in about 24 hours from now. Harmanpreet Kaur receives the Women's T20 Challenge Trophy from Sourav Ganguly, the President of the BCCI and Jay Shah, the Secretary of the BCCI. She then goes to join her teammates as the confetti showers over the Supernovas who are the CHAMPIONS! They get into a huge roar of their own and rightly so. Third time champions and what a run they've had. What a run each of the three teams have had - the highest standard of women's cricket truly coming to the fore all along. Mind you, this is the highest standard as of you - the quality in the women's game is only getting bigger and better and with the prospect of a full-fledged Women's IPL in store next year, one can only smack their lips at the prospect of the quality in store come 2023!

Harmanpreet Kaur (Supernovas Captain): (Heartbeat back to normal?) I think it was always normal. I knew this game was going to be like that and I was prepared for that. We knew we hadn't won the game yet and at any moment, anything could happen. It was a brilliant show by the bowlers. The first over was not in our favor but I knew if we could get two early wickets we could get control. That's what everyone spoke about and it went the right way. When Pooja started, we planned something else but she wasn't able to bowl what she had in mind. It happens though in front of such a big crowd especially. With Sophie, I gave her the field that she wanted and she bowled accordingly. We wanted to keep the deep fielder out but as we all know, the covers are her (Wolvaardt's) strength. It was about bowling the right areas and Sophie did that. When you have teammates who always want to enjoy each and every moment, the way we all stay together...the support staff kept us all together in such a short time. We all want to thank them and I'm very happy with the way we've played the tournament.

Hear from the World Boss: It feels really brilliant to be part of the tournament. Have been looking forward to it as well so it feels awesome to be part of it. The experience has been amazing - you come here and learn from different players. It's been very good. The last 15 minutes were an adrenaline rush I should say (laughs). We picked up 3 wickets in the first six overs and were looking to restrict them to lesser runs. But it was an awesome experience and an awesome tournament. It was very good for me - the team backed me, we talk a lot and have fun. I felt comfortable at home and that's important.

Time for the presentation ceremony...

Alana King: Happy with how I bowled but credit to Velocity for the way they came back in the last 5 overs. But stoked for the girls and happy to get over the line. There were a lot of events (towards the end overs) but it was so loud and I haven't played in front of a crowd like this. I've been really excited to play in India. It's a big treat tonight to hold that cup. I've made a lot of good friends and it's been a great time. Hopefully I'll be back next year.

Priya Punia: I worked very hard and it was very important after my domestic season. The team vibe was excellent and there are a lot of colorful vibes and positive vibes at the Supernovas. We were excited and nervous - the start was good and we got wickets as well in between. It went up and down but it was great to win towards the end. Whatever Pooja's plan was I would have tried the same. It didn't work but it happens.

Deepti Sharma (Velocity Captain): I think at the start and in the middle overs, if we would have built partnerships, it would not have come to this. The batters didn't take enough responsibility but Laura and Simran did well towards the end. It was chaseable considering the batting unit we are and the way we have been playing. (Chat to Wolvaardt and Simran) There weren't many options. It was just see the ball and hit the ball. We lost the final but the way we have performed as a batting unit in the last few overs, and the way the bowlers came back in the last few overs today, it was a good performance.

Phew! Can we ever catch our breaths in this manic sport? Do we even want to, though? We love such thrillers don't we?

Chasing 166, Shafali Verma and Yastika Bhatia took off at the rate of knots and seemed to be in a hurry to gun down the target. However, it was the World Boss, Deandra Dottin, who broke open the game along with Sophie Ecclestone. Dottin removed Shafali while Ecclestone prized out Yastika and a struggling Kiran Navgire inside the Powerplay. Navgire dotted up for 13 deliveries with Dottin hitting those hard lengths and posing many a question. A blow to her head didn't aid Navgire's cause either as her struggle threw a spanner into the works of the chase.

Laura Wolvaardt took charge of the situation and went about it in an assured manner, even as wickets fell at regular intervals. So much so, that the asking rate continued to mount with nobody hanging in there to lend Wolvaardt the support she was desperately craving for.

Once the game got to a stage where they simply had to go big, Kate Cross unleashed a couple of boundaries including a scoop over fine leg. Her departure brought Simran Dil Bahadur to the crease though and even as Wolvaardt notched up a sublime half-century owing to a masterful acceleration, it was Simran who took the bull by the horns.

34 off the last 2 overs came down to 17 off the last. There was a wide call that didn't go in favor of Velocity but a six off the first ball of the final over put Velocity in front. Thereafter though, Ecclestone held her nerve to fire it into the blockhole and deny Velocity a heist of the highest order, sealing a third title for the Supernovas.

But for those last few overs, it was a fine display with the ball in hand as far as the Supernovas are concerned. Deandra Dottin was the star again, even as Alana King picked up three of her own as she found herself on a hat-trick. But come the big game and much like she did during the Women's Cricket World Cup a couple of months ago, it was a certain Sophie Ecclestone who stood up to the task to ensure that the job was done. A third title for Supernovas but jeez, they've only just managed to scrape through!

Oh the anticlimax to what should have been the anticlimax! These scripts - oh what drama, what action! Agony, ecstasy, joy and despair all in one frame as the Supernovas get into a celebratory huddle. Simran Dil Bahadur looks dejected but my word what a blitz she has played. At the end of it all though, Supernovas hold on by 4 runs to clinch their third WT20 Challenge title!
