Commentary

So West Indies breaks their 9 match losing streak against India. It was a good all-round show and they will take a lot of heart from this performance. Shai Hope (West Indies captain and Man of the Match): Again as long as I contribute to my team's win I am happy. Whatever I am scoring doesn't matter. When things are difficult like it was today, you have to find ways to get singles and doubles. Very satisfied. Previously our thought process was about winning this game and we have to win the next game to win the series. We have to bring the attitude on the field. Today we displayed that attitude. We need to replicate this more often to be more consistent. It was a complete bowling performance. To start with the ball wasn't easy. The batters finished it off in the end. Just to replicate that same attitude and as long as we are ticking our boxes, we are on the right track.

Hardik Pandya (Indian captain): We didn't bat the way we were supposed to. The wicket played really well, much better than the first game. (Wickets)Barring Shubman, everyone played their shots and found the fielders. Disappointing, but at the same time, many things to learn. (Positives in Kishan and Thakur) The way they played throughout, even Ishan, the way he is timing the ball. You can see he is carrying on his confidence from the IPL. At the same time, even Shardul did well. West Indies batted well, Hope and even the other guy (Carty) played his part. (His own bowling) I have to get the workload up for the ODI World Cup. I'm being a turtle, not a rabbit. Hoping that goes well. (Series decider) To be very honest, you want the series to be one all. It gets the character out of everyone. They'll be tested, we'll be tested. The next game will be quite exciting for the players as well as the viewers.

West Indies would be delighted with the victory but what would delight them is the fact that youngster Keacy Carty played a wonderful knock and spent enough time in the middle. It was the partnership between Shai Hope and Keacy Carty which eventually helped West Indies win by 6 wickets after a hiccup early on. It wasn't going to be an easy run chase given the tricky conditions but sensible batting from Hope and Carty ensured West Indies win with relative ease in the end.

The opening batters Kyle Mayers and Brandon King came out all guns blazing. Mayers in particular played a blistering knock of 37 and put West Indies in a commanding position. A couple of no look shots fetched him sixes over backward square leg while King also played some delightful shots. It was the introduction of Shardul Thakur which triggered a collapse as far as the West Indies were concerned.

He bounced out Mayers with a well-directed short delivery while trapping King right in front of the stumps. A couple of wickets in his very first over turned things around. West Indies needed another partnership and out came Shai Hope in the middle to stabilise proceedings. Shardul got one more in the form of Alick Athanaze's wicket with another short delivery.

The pressure kept building as Kuldeep castled Shimron Hetmyer with a beautiful wrong un which spun back from a flatter trajectory and had Hetmyer in a no man's land. Keacy Carty came out at the fall of Hetmyer's wicket and he steadied the ship in the company of his skipper.

He struggled early on, especially against Ravindra Jadeja who was getting the ball to grip and turn. However, he played out the initial burst and slowly started gaining in confidence. He looked solid in the middle and Shai Hope led from the front as he always does. He eventually remained unbeaten on 63 odd 70 deliveries while Carty remained undefeated on 48 off 65 deliveries. Shardul bagged 3 while Kuldeep bagged one for India

That's the game set and match for West Indies. Carty wanted to hit a six to get to his half century but that doesn't matter. Well played Keacy Carty, well played Shai Hope as they have outplayed India in all three departments of the game. Excitement in the stands as Carty thumps one over the mid off region for a boundary. A great partnership and West Indies wins by 6 wickets. Smiles in the West Indies camp and it matters a lot for a battered team who failed to qualify for the World Cup not long ago.

36.4 Hardik Pandya to Keacy Carty, FOUR! WEST INDIES LEVEL THE SERIES WITH A CLINICAL PERFORMANCE! Short of a length outside off, Carty backs away and flat-bats this over mid-off to find the ropes on the bounce. No half-century for him but it's a knock that will do his confidence a world of good. West Indies win by 6 wickets and force a decider.

That was delectable from Keacy Carty. That was a brave shot with what looks to be a third slip in place. Takes it right from the stumps and glides it away past the fielder.

36.3 Hardik Pandya to Keacy Carty, FOUR! Cheeky and he got a bit of luck with it. Angled in from the back of a length, Carty opens his bat face and guides this in the gap between keeper and gully
