Devin Miles Haney, born on November 17, 1998, in San Francisco, California, is a celebrated young champion in professional boxing. Under the guidance of his father, Bill Haney, he began his boxing journey. At 14, Haney and his father relocated to Las Vegas, a move aimed at providing better opportunities for his burgeoning boxing career.

Devin Haney made his professional boxing debut on December 11, 2015, at the age of 17. He faced Rafael Vasquez in a four-round bout at the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, California. Haney won the fight via unanimous decision. He has notable wins over formidable opponents like Vasiliy Lomachenko and Regis Prograis.

Haney's achievements culminated in him holding the WBC super lightweight title since December 2023 and previously reigning as the undisputed lightweight champion until August 2023. His remarkable skills and championship victories have earned him recognition as the world's best active lightweight by ESPN and the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board as of April 2024.

Devin Haney Coach

While Floyd Mayweather Jr. has provided advice to Devin Haney, he is not his full-time trainer. Devin Haney is currently being trained by Ben Davison, an eminent trainer in the sport of boxing. Davison has also worked with top-tier fighters like Tyson Fury and Billy Joe Saunders. Even before his professional boxing career, Haney admired Floyd Mayweather, viewing him as a role model and a source of inspiration.

Who does Floyd Mayweather train?

Floyd Mayweather is widely known for being the promoter and mentor of the current Gervonta Davis. Floyd Mayweather and Gervonta Davis first formed a dynamic partnership in 2015 when Mayweather recognized Davis's potential as a talented young boxer at the age of 20. Mayweather then signed Davis to his boxing promotion company, Mayweather Promotions, setting the stage for Davis's meteoric rise in boxing.

Under Mayweather's guidance, Davis achieved great success, securing titles in two weight classes and establishing himself as an exciting prospect in the sport. However, despite their early triumphs, tensions surfaced between Mayweather and Davis, reportedly stemming from Davis's dissatisfaction with the quality of opponents and promotional efforts. Eventually, Davis opted to part ways with Mayweather Promotions and pursue a path of self-promotion. Despite these professional challenges, both Mayweather and Davis continue to hold mutual respect for each other.
