The Indiana Pacers compete in the National Basketball Association as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Central Division. The Pacers were founded in 1967 as an American Basketball Association (ABA) member. The team later joined the NBA in 1976 after the NBA-ABA merger. The franchise plays its home games at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Throughout their basketball history, this team has won three ABA championships, in 1970, 1972, and 1973. They are yet to win an NBA title.

Indiana Pacers Famous Players

Reggie Miller

Reggie Miller is the greatest player in Indiana Pacers' history. However, his overall achievements are not as impressive as compared to other basketball legends. Miller spent his complete playing career with the Indiana Pacers and was named an All-Star five times. In 2021, he was also named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

Paul George

Paul George is another Pacers great. With multiple memorable playoff runs, George averaged 18.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game in seven seasons with the Pacers. He was named an NBA All-Star thrice during his time with the team.

Jermaine O’Neal

Jermaine O’Neal is one of the most underrated basketball players of the 2000s. He played for the Pacers between 2000 - 2008 and averaged 18.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. O’Neal was named an All-Star six times during his time with the Pacers.

Rik Smits

The 1990s saw the Indiana Pacers add many players to their crew to improve the team’s performance. Rik Smits was the second-best talent at the time who spent his entire NBA career with the Indiana Pacers. Drafted second overall in 1988, Smits averaged 14.8 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

Victor Oladipo

Victor Oladipo played for the Indiana Pacers between 2017 - 2021. He averaged 20.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.3 assists per game in his four seasons in Indiana. While his time in Indiana was impacted by injuries, he was named All-Star in 2018 and 2019. Oladipo also won the NBA Most Improved Player in 2018.

Indiana Pacers History

The Indiana Pacers came into existence in 1967 as a member of the American Basketball Association. The team initially played under coach Bob (“Slick”) Leonard. The Pacers lost the ABA Finals in their second season but earned their first ABA title the next year. Over time, the franchise continued to feature new players to the group like George McGinnis, which further solidified the group’s reputation in the basketball world.

Herbert Simon was born on October 23, 1934, and is the owner of the Indiana Pacers. He is a prominent figure in the world of American real estate, but his influence extends beyond the world of property. Simon currently resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, and boasts an impressive academic background. He and his brother Mel, acquired the Indiana Pacers from Sam Nassi and Frank Mariani in 1983.

Simon’s involvement extends beyond the NBA as he also owns the WNBA’s Indiana Fever. His dedication to the sport extends further, having formerly owned the USL’s Reno 1868 FC.
