Kyle Anthony Pitts is an American football tight end for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Florida, where he was named a unanimous All-American and won the John Mackey Award in 2020, before transitioning to the NFL, where he’s been a genuine generational talent at the TE position.
Kyle Pitts’ Early Life and Background
Pitts originally attended Abington Senior High School before transferring to Archbishop Wood Catholic High School in 2016. He played TE and the defensive end for the team. Pitts also participated in 2018 Under Armour All-America Game before committing to the University of Florida.
Pitts played as a backup in his true freshman season for 11 games, finishing with three receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown. As a starter in 2019, Pitts finished with 54 receptions for 649 yards and 5 touchdowns. Pitts earned first-team All-SEC honors for his performance. In the COVID-19 afflicted 2020 season, Pitts scored 12 touchdowns while gaining 770 yards on 43 receptions. He was named a unanimous All-American and won the John Mackey Award as the most outstanding TE in college football.

After strong showings to start the season, Pitts set the Falcons’ franchise record for receiving yards in a single by a tight end with 163 in week 7. After a string of strong performances, Pitts surpassed Tony Gonzalez for the Falcon’s franchise record for the most receiving yards in a single season by a tight end in week 16. In Week 17, Pitts became just the second rookie tight end in NFL history to surpass 1,000 receiving yards. He was the first rookie TE to make the Pro Bowl since Jeremy Shockey in 2002.
