Conor Mcgregor would get into combat sports in the early 2000s at the age of 12 when he started boxing to protect himself against bullies. In 2006, Mcgregor would move to Lucan, Dublin, and would meet future UFC fighter, Tom Egan and would eventually start training with him.
Mcgregor made his amateur MMA debut in 2007 for Ring of Truth and would win the fight via TKO in the first round. After the fight, he would go professional and sign with Cage of Truth. Mcgregor would have a professional record of 12-2, which would include winning the Cage Warriors Featherweight and Lightweight Championship. He would be signed by the UFC in 2013.

Mcgregor fought Aldo at UFC 194 to unify the Featherweight Championship. McGregor Ko'ed Aldo in 13 seconds to end Aldo's 10-year run as the UFC Featherweight Champion and became the new UFC Featherweight Champion in the process. Mcgregor would next fight Nate Diaz, who took the fight on short notice. Mcgregor would lose the fight for the first time in his UFC career but would beat Nate in their rematch at UFC 202.
Mcgregor then challenged Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 for the UFC Lightweight Championship and beat Eddie in the 2nd round to become the first-ever UFC 2-division champion before going on a 2-fight losing streak against Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 and UFC 264.
