Yujiro Kushida is a Japanese professional wrestler signed with WWE. He is a former IWJP Junior Heavyweight, Junior Heavyweight Tag Team, ROH Television, and NXT Cruiserweight Champion.
Professional Wrestling Career
Early Years (2005-2010)
In 2005, Kushida began his professional wrestling career. Kushida simultaneously worked for MMA and professional wrestling. Later, he began wrestling for Hustle, All Japan Pro Wrestling, Osaka Pro Wrestling, and several North American promotions.
NJPW (2010-2019)
In 2010, Kushida completely transitioned into NJPW from Smash. Kushida spent the first few years in the Junior Heavyweight division. Kushida received various opportunities at the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship but failed to win. In 2012, Kushida teamed up with Alex Shelley to form the Time Splinters. Later, they won Super Jr. Tag Tournament.
In November, they won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship. During their time as a team, they faced several top teams, such as The Young Bucks, Forever Hooligans, teams, and reDRagon. During NJPW/ROH event, Kushida won the ROH Television Championship.
In 2015, Kushida defeated Kyle O'Rilley to win the Best of the Super Juniors. During his time in NJPW, Kushida won the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship on six different occasions. As a champion, Kushida faced the likes of Kota Ibushi, Kenny Omega, Hiroshi Tanahashi, and many more before leaving the company in 2019.
WWE (2019-Present)
In 2019, Kushida signed with WWE and began working for NXT. Initially, Kushida worked in the cruiserweight division. In 2020, Time Splinters entered the Dusty Rhodes Classic and lost. In September, Kushida feuded with Velveteen Dream. At TakeOver 31, Kushida defeated Dream.
In 2021, Kushida faced Johnny Gargano for the North American Championships and lost. Later, he lost to Pete Dunne at Stand and Deliver. After the event, Kushida faced Santos Escobar for the NXT Cruiserweight Championships and won.
After 160 days, Kushida lost the title to Roderick Strong. Later, Kushida formed a tag team with Jiro called Jacket Time. In 2022, they entered the Dusty Rhodes Classic and lost in the first round. Kushida was last seen facing A-Kid on NXT.
