Lacey Evans

Lacey Evans (real name - Macey Estrella-Kadlec) is an American professional wrestler and a former U.S. Marine known her work in WWE up until she left the company in August 2023.

Early Life and Military

Evans was born on March 24, 1990, in Georgia, United States of America. She grew up in a troubled household. Her father wanted to become a professional wrestler himself before his demise due to a drug overdose. At the age of 19, Evans enlisted in US Marines and served for five years. She also earned a Bachelor's degree from Indian River State College. While serving in the military, Evans also opened a construction business. She met a staff sergeant during her time in the military who introduced her to pro-wrestling. He booked independent pro-wrestling shows and also booked Evans in one of his shows where she wrestled the Sergeant.

Professional Wrestling Career

NXT (2016-2019)

Before signing with WWE, Evans finished her training and started her career on an independent circuit. She mainly trained under Tom Caiazzo in Statesboro, Georgia, Evans made her pro-wrestling debut in 2014 in American Premier Wrestling where she also won the World Heavyweight Championship. In 2016, she was signed by WWE, where she began working for NXT. Initially, she was used as a jobber and lost most of her matches. In 2018, she began featuring on weekly television and participated in contender matches.

Her fortune took a slight turn when she turned heel in 2018. Her first major feud came against Kairi Sane later that year. While she lost the feud, Evans proved herself in the squared circle and was praised for her wrestling skills. The rest of 2018 saw Evans fly high on a winning streak where she defeated NXT icons such as Candice LeRae and Dakota Kai.

Main Roster (2019-2023)

On the December 17, 2018, episode of RAW, six NXT superstars were shown to be promoted to the main roster of the promotion. Lacey Evans was one of those six wrestlers. She made her official main roster debut at Royal Rumble 2019 where she entered the match at Number 1. Evans proved herself in the match as she lasted almost half an hour into the match before being eliminated by Charlotte Flair.

For the next few months, Evans was not drafted to any of the brands and randomly appeared on either of RAW or SmackDown to interrupt matches and segments. She was finally drafted to Monday Night RAW after WrestleMania 35. After being drafted to the brand, Evans set her eyes on the biggest prize in the brand - the RAW Women's Championship.

At that time, both RAW and SmackDown Women's Championship were held by Becky Lynch who won both the titles in the main event of WrestleMania 35. However, Evans challenged only for the RAW Women's Championship at Money in the Bank. At the event, Evans lost to Lynch via submission. Later that night, Lynch defended her SmackDown Women's Championship against Charlotte Flair where Evans helped the latter defeat Lynch.

This led to a rematch at WWE Stomping Grounds where Evans lost once again. Thereafter, Evans teamed up with Baron Corbin to take on RAW Women's Champion Becky Lynch and Universal Champion Seth Rollins in a Last Chance Extreme Rules Tag Team Match at Extreme Rules. Rollins pinned Corbin in the end to defend both his and Lynch's title.

Now unable to challenge anymore for the RAW Women's Championship, Evans was drafted to SmackDown in the 2019 WWE Draft. At Crown Jewel 2019, Lacey Evans lost to Natalya. The match is known as a landmark as it was the first time female superstars competed in a WWE event held in Saudi Arabia, something which has now become very common.

Evans was a part of Team SmackDown in the 15-woman elimination tag team match at Survivor Series 2019 against Team RAW and Team NXT. She pinned Charlotte Flair in the match before being eliminated by Natalya, who was a part of Team RAW. It was Team NXT that finally won the closely-contested match. Lacey Evans then earned an opportunity at Bayley's SmackDown Women's Championship at Royal Rumble 2020 which she failed to capitalize.

She once again failed to win the title at WrestleMania 36 in a five-way match for the belt and then lost in the Money in the Bank Corporate Ladder match for the namesake briefcase. Evans was then drafted to Monday Night RAW.

On January 4, 2021, at the time of the match against Asuka and Charlotte Flair, Lacey Evans and Ric Flair started flirting. Flair started managing Evans thereafter and was apparently starting to date Evans before her real-life pregnancy was announced on February 15. The same was incorporated in the programming and it was implied that Flair was the father. However, the storyline was scrapped and Evans left the promotion on maternity leave.

Lacey Evans made her return to WWE in April 2022 and was drafted to SmackDown. She made her return as a military-inspired babyface character but it did not take her long to turn on fans when she attacked her tag team partner Aliyah. Evans went on a brief hiatus following Survivor Series: WarGames and returned at Royal Rumble 2023 where she made two eliminations before being eliminated by Raquel Rodriguez.

It was announced in August 2023 that Lacey Evans had left WWE.

Macey Estrella-Kadec or Lacey Evans is married to Alfonso Estrella-Kadec. The pair have been happily married since January 13, 2010. The two have been together for more than fifteen years now including the time spent before the two finally tied the knot. Lacey Evans also has two daughters. The couple live together at Parris Island, South Carolina.
