Early Life and Career
Montana De La Rosa was born in Helena, Montana, in the United States, but was raised in Azle, Texas. She began her wrestling training at Azle High School and showed promise at both state and national levels, earning herself a scholarship offer from Oklahoma City University. However, as a young mother, she returned to Texas and enrolled at Tarrant County College, where she is pursuing a degree in kinesiology. After graduating in 2013, De La Rosa started training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and eventually made the transition to MMA.
In 2014, Montana De La Rosa began her professional MMA career. She was the formal Xtreme Fighting League (XFN) flyweight champion and held a record of 7-4 before competing in The Ultimate Fighter 26, a TV MMA competition series produced by UFC. Following her appearance on the show, De La Rosa was signed by UFC.
Montana De La Rosa’s Career in The Ultimate Fighter
In August 2017, Montana De La Rosa was revealed as one of the fighters to be featured on The Ultimate Fighter 26, a UFC TV series that would determine the first 125-pound women's champion in the UFC. In the opening round of the competition, De La Rosa went up against Ariel Beck and won the fight with a D'Arce choke in the first round. However, in the quarterfinals, she was defeated by Nicco Montaño by a unanimous decision.
Montana De La Rosa’s Career in UFC
Since making her UFC debut in 2017, Montana De La Rosa has fought in several UFC events. She won her first fight against Christina Marks at The Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale and went on to win two more fights against Rachael Ostovich and Nadia Kassem. However, she lost her fourth fight against Andrea Lee but won her next fight against Mara Romero Borella. She suffered a defeat against Viviane Araújo and fought to a draw with Mayra Bueno Silva before winning her next fight against Ariane Lipski. She was scheduled to face Maycee Barber in December 2021 but had to pull out due to injury. De La Rosa later faced Barber in April 2022 and lost via unanimous decision. She is now set to fight Tatiana Suarez on February 25, 2023, at UFC Fight Night 220.

The flyweight fight between Mayra Bueno Silva and Montana De La Rosa at UFC Fight Night: Rozenstruik vs. Gane on 27th February 2021 ended in a majority draw due to a point deduction issued to Silva by referee Jerin Valel in the first round for grabbing the fence. This put Silva in a difficult position, as she needed to either finish the fight or dominate to avoid a loss. While she started to gain momentum with strikes, De La Rosa was able to bring the fight back to the ground, where she landed short elbows and punches. Despite eating a lot of strikes, De La Rosa kept looking for takedowns, which she was able to land in the final round. However, the judges' scorecards resulted in a majority draw.
