Zhao Xia is a Chinese professional wrestler signed with WWE. She is best known for her work with WWE as Xia Li. She is currently assigned to SmackDown.
Professional Wrestling Career
WWE (2017-Present)
Early Years in NXT (2017-2020)
During a tryout in Shanghai, they signed Xia, and she began working for NXT. She took part in both the Mae Young Classic but failed to make an impact. In 2019, she entered the Royal Rumble but failed to win. She went on a winning streak for a few weeks before losing to NXT Champion Shayna Baszler. In 2020, she entered the rumble but lost the match. She began feuding with The Robert Stone brand, which she won.
Tina Sha and The Protector (2020-Present)
In September, she was involved in a storyline with Tina Sha. Over the coming weeks, she became her protégé alongside Boa. In November, vignettes aired of Li and Boa training under Sha. In 2021, she went on a winning streak and defeated Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro. At TakeOver In Your House, she defeated Mercedes Martinez. In July, she challenged Raquel for the NXT Women's Championship and lost.
During the Draft, Xia Li was drafted to SmackDown. After the draft, they aired vignettes of her in a new gimmick called The Protector. In December, she appeared on SmackDown and helped Naomi to take on Natalya and Sonya Deville. She is currently scheduled to enter the royal rumble match.
