History
Delhi Capitals Women is one of five Women's Premier League (WPL) franchises. It is co-owned by the GMR-JSW Group, which owns the IPL franchise by the same name. The owners shelled out INR 810 Crores to acquire the rights to own the Delhi franchise.
The 2025 squad boasted names such as Jemimah Rodrigues, skipper Meg Lanning, Indian opener Shafali Verma, South African seam-bowling all-rounder Marizanne Kapp, England all-rounder Alice Capsey, and Australian SLA Jess Jonassen.
The Meg Lanning-led unit finished as runners-up in the first two editions of the Women's Premier League. They tried their best to break the jinx by topping the league stage to have another crack at the title. But in a repeat of 2023, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians Women once again proved to be the nemesis, defeating them by eight runs in a nervy final to deny the most consistent side in the tournament's history of well-deserved glory.
