Longest Reigning Women's Tag Team Champions (2019-2020)
Paige, a retired WWE wrestler, returned and introduced a new tag team called "The Kabuki Warriors" (Asuka and Kairi Sane). The Kabuki Warriors defeated multiple teams and started a feud with The IIconics over the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship. While they initially won against The IIconics via count-out, the title didn't change hands due to the rule that titles only change hands by pinfall or submission.
The Kabuki Warriors continued their pursuit of the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, participating in a four-way elimination match and facing Bliss and Cross in a few title matches. Finally, they won the championship at Hell in a Cell using underhanded tactics, solidifying their villainous turn. They were drafted to the Raw brand and completed their transition to full-fledged heels by betraying their manager, Paige.
The Kabuki Warriors continued their dominance, holding onto the Women's Tag Team Championship with victories against various challengers across brands. However, their bond started to fracture. At Survivor Series, Asuka's betrayal of teammate Charlotte Flair with green mist sparked a feud with Lynch and Flair. Despite defending the titles at Starrcade and TLC, tensions within the team grew, culminating in their ultimate downfall at WrestleMania 36, where they lost the championship back to Bliss and Cross. Their reign ended marked by internal conflict and an unfulfilled promise to reclaim the gold.
Reunion and Damage CTRL (2023-Present)
Fast forward to November 2023, Sane returned to the ring, assisting Iyo Sky in retaining her championship and eventually forming the villainous faction Damage CTRL with Sky and Bayley. In a shocking turn of events, during a six-woman tag team match, Asuka betrayed her teammates and reunited with Sane, reforming The Kabuki Warriors and joining Damage CTRL.
Despite facing defeat at Survivor Series: WarGames as part of Damage CTRL, The Kabuki Warriors found success by capturing the Women's Tag Team Championship for a second time, a record-tying feat for the team and a record-setting fourth reign for Asuka individually.
